In Abundance (in colour)

Wow, this certainly takes your breath away! Shame you didn't say where the photo was taken, but for me it's reassuring to see that there are places where these creatures are still in abundance. You must have had a good vantage point to get this shot.

When I first saw this image, I thought that my eyesight is playing up or that I'm slightly drunk, as the photo just seemed to be moving. It's rather unsettling but a great image. It must be an amazing experience to be so close by in reality.

Beautiful monarch butterflies - I've seen it on TV and in magazines but was never able to witness this spectacle in person. I love the detail shown by focussing on the butterflies, and their beautiful colour and pattern, while the branches and leaves are moving out of focus to not distract the eye.

Just close your eyes and take a deep breath - I felt that I could almost smell the strong lavender scent. The undulated landscape and the solitary hut increase the feeling of endlessness. I love it that the lavender isn't grown in rows for easier harvest, but close like grain, looking like an ocean of purple. Without any doubt my winner, congratulations.

Another image that gives me hope that all is not lost, that there are places still on earth where wild creatures can still live in masses, hopefully undisturbed. Long may it last. You did a very good and difficult job to take a such steady shot from a boat, it was well worth it.
