Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. There were a good number of long exposure shots of waterfalls submitted, but I especially enjoyed this example. The technique is popular - perhaps even over-used - but when it's done well, as it is here, it is to be applauded and appreciated. Lovely rich colours, and subtle symmetry in the composition. Beautiful.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. I am so glad you did. This is a stunning image, very graphic, refreshingly monochromatic and atmospheric. This is a great example of how empty space (void, abstract shape etc) can add dramatically to a composition. This composition is spot-on, and the four penguins, like four bewildered souls in their white wilderness, provide scale, and really made me smile. The horizon is level and a perfect contrast to the random edges of the ice where it meets the sea. Well seen and well executed.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. This is a timeless landscape image; an appealing scene, shot from perfect positioning. The composition is super, the bench almost suggesting that you are sitting on it enjoying the view, and the trees framing the focal area. The colours are rich and well-balanced. I suspect using HDR. If so, expertly. I love it.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. I suppose one might say this is a minimal landscape, but on first sight I was struck by the sense of serenity and remoteness. I was also drawn by the aerial perspective (fading tones of the tree trunks as they recede) due to the mist. It's an unassuming, honest and natural image, and I love it.
Firstly, thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. Secondly, I love this image, and I offer it first place. It is a perfect example of how to exploit natural light and shade to best advantage in a landscape. The tracery of lines made by farm machinery adds to the overall appeal, as do the textures of the crops. The angular man-made structure in the foreground right provides a subtle incongruity compared to the gently flowing contours of the land. Wonderful.

Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. This is a very atmospheric image, reminiscent of a Brothers Grimm fairytale illustration. The lead-in steps, made from a hard rectangular material, are in stark contrast to the soft, grotto-esque look of the overhanging trees. It's an appealing and enigmatic photo, but if it were mine I would desaturate the colours a little bit to make it more so.
Thank you for entering my Landscapes competition. I was drawn to this image at the outset because of its pleasant duotone feel, provided by the grey-green of the frost covered grasses and the soft browns of the trees. A lovely picture of calm and serenity. My only comment - a minor one - is that it could have been improved if the foreground grasses were in focus too. But well seen and well executed.

Let me see your stunning colour landscape photos, but without the clichéd (much overused) colours of sunset or sunrise. Try to exploit natural light and shade to best advantage, using shapes, textures and even voids which can all contribute to a successful composition, especially in minimal landscapes. Your photos can be taken anywhere in the world, can include incidental people, and must be in colour. Please remember no sunsets and no sunrises. I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. I am delighted to commend this photo because of its minimalism and graphic qualities. It is well seen and well executed and deserves recognition. The greys and blues impart an atmosphere of cold and wet. I have one gripe, however; in my opinion as a judge, names/logos are unnecessary and are best omitted from competition photos in fairness to other contestants, and to further impartiality. I feel that all submissions should be anonymous to a judge, since the showing of names/logos could have a negative impact in the judging process.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. This is an arresting photo and I struggled to make my mind up about where it should stand in the results of the judge's section of the competition. In concept and execution it is similar to some other images that were submitted, inasmuch as you have used an ultra-wide angle lens to great effect, to achieve sharpness from the grasses in the immediate foreground to the distant mountains. It's a strong image but not quite strong enough to make my top 10.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. This is another classic landscape photo taken in England's beautiful Lake District. As often happens, the play of sunshine through the clouds highlights certain sections of the hills and makes for some fabulous scenes, and this is no exception. Well done!
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. This is an appealing scene and begs to be photographed. What I enjoy about this version is the sight of the tractor travelling along the narrow ridge giving a sense of scale. Presumably, the people on the road were able to flatten themselves against the fence as the tractor passed them, leaving them unscathed. Such a pleasure to see that the horizon is perfectly level too! Lovely!
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. I love the tones, the soft feel and serenity of the picture. The dilapidated state of both the boat and the barn impart a degree of poignancy and remoteness.. If I am allowed to make just one minor suggestion to improve the balance of the composition, it would be to crop the sky, so that the line of the horizon appears across the middle of the frame. What do you think?
This is a striking image and very graphic in feel, which I admire tremendously. Thank you so much for entering it in my Landscapes competition. The dark lines criss-crossing the yellow field of rape are a fitting foil to the more circular shape of the chapel's location, its roundness emphasised by the dark lines made by farm machinery. Great composition. Well seen and well presented. Excellent!

Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. I love the cool, muted blue tones of this image, which complement beautifully the soft orange of the buildings. Having seen some great photos taken in the Lofoten Islands, I am tempted to make a visit myself. Keep 'em coming, this is good stuff. Brilliant.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. The use of a wide angle lens and small aperture has achieved sharpness from front to back. It's interesting how the shape of the tuft pf vegetation in the foreground is echoed by the hump of the mountain in the distance. This adds to the appeal of the shot. It all looks atmospherically steely and wintry too. I have two comments, meant to be constructive of course: I would like to have seen a little more detail in the river bank and clump of trees on the right just to brighten the image a little; also the subject is not quite level in the frame, but slopes down from left to right. Nevertheless, a lovely picture.

Thank you so much for entering my Landscape Photos competition. This is an eye-catching image with an appropriate letter-box crop to aid the composition, and is worthy of commendation. It will do very well in the crowd judging. But for my taste it is a clichéed a scene, and too highly saturated to make my top 10.
Also, my attention is needlessly diverted to the logo at top right. In my opinion, names/logos are unnecessary and are best omitted from competition photos in fairness to other contestants, and to ensure impartiality. I feel that Photocrowd submissions should be anonymous, since the showing of names/logos could also influence judging either way.
Thank you so much for entering my Landscapes competition. A classic landscape photo where the low lying mist throws everything that rises above it into sharp contrast and begs to be photographed. I've never been fortunate enough to be in such a place at such a time to take a superb shot like this, so I commend it without hesitation. Beautiful!
