Leaving

So much emotion here! It's easy to build up a story around the picture - first trip away without mum perhaps? The contrast between the mother's tears and the child's gentle smile is great - the daughter knows she will be fine without mum, but it's still nice to be loved.

There's plenty to nitpick with this image from a technical perspective, but I really don't care. The contrasting set of emotions as the photographer leaves just makes me giggle - the indifference of the child, the pouty sad faces of the ladies and… whatever the man's emotions are! (Haha, got rid of you again? I've just made a terrible pun?)

Whilst not technically accomplished, I love the moment this catches. The morning after the night before, off on honeymoon. The wedding dress & jeans combination adds a great feel to the occasion - two people relaxed in each other's company.

Another photo where you start inventing the story as soon as you see it. Personally, I think someone's having a strop! A lovely capture of a childhood moment - "I'm taking my suitcase and my teddy and I leaving. I don't like you any more!"

A contender for the top 10, and the best of the graduation photos entered into the contest. Leaving isn't always a sad occasion and the enthusiasm and excitement is clear to see. I think the camera phone in the foreground does detract in this case, but these photos are all about capturing a moment and you can't control everything!
