First of all, I'd like to thank all those who took the time to enter this competition - abiding by the brief in the process. Onto the winning image - which I knew was the winner the moment I saw it. I remember seeing another shot very similar to this one that won a recent prestigious photo competition and the shot here stood out for me in much the same way. It fits the brief perfectly with just the one 'solid' element of the boat...but it is, of course, the wavy 'wake' the boat has left behind it that makes this image stand out. I also very much like the composition with the colour and contrast of the water topping it off beautifully. A brilliant shot and well done indeed on first place
Another original, thoughtful and different shot that was also a refreshing change to what some might consider the norm with regards the brief. I have little doubt such a shot would have passed most of us by. It’s simple, uncluttered, works very well in black and white and meets the brief perfectly. Well done and my thanks for your entry.
A wonderfully simplistic image which is enhanced rather well with regards the overall texture afforded by the sand….and of the object itself, which I assume is some kind of small stone. I particularly like the brown earthy tones you have here, and all topped off with those tidal water marks running diagonally across the shot - and compositionally it is perfect. Very nice and my thanks for your entry.
The second image of a lone boat within the top 10.....but it was hard to resist any of the three such images that made it to this stage. I love the simplicity and the overall warmer tones of this shot but it is, of course, the contrasting shapes of the sand dunes that give this shot that all-important visual appeal - or 'wow' factor if you like. Again, well done and my thanks for your entry.
There were many shots in this competition with a human element, but this offering is my favourite. I like the cool dark moody tones of the sky, which contrast really well with the snowy white foreground, but not only is it the element of the lone walker that makes this shot but the inclusion of the 4 small trees to the left which are an added bonus and which make the shot stand out for me. Very nice and my thanks for your entry.
Another image of a lone boat in a large expanse of water within the top 10 - but I couldn't resist it. No wake this time, but I do like the way the boat is perfectly positioned North/South dead centre. I love the cool green tones of the water and those faint lines running diagonally across the shot make for an overall beautiful image. Well done, and my thanks for your entry.

Less is more: your photos should contain as few elements as possible and yet still make the viewer go 'wow'. Strictly no composite images please. Colour or monochrome, the choice is yours. I am very much looking forward to seeing your entries.
