WOW WOW WOW. This shot is right up my street and has been taken really well. The lighthouse is near enough centre frame with pastel colours and light hitting off the lighthouse itself and the beach is just so beautiful. Your choice for long exposure to smooth out the sea and gather the colour of the sunset in the water is just another amazing element in a fantastic shot. Not much else I can say other than I want to pay a visit to this site now

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** There are more than 250 lighthouses in the UK, and at their peak in the USA there were 850 in operation. It’s the combination of their unique design – such feats of engineering – and their solitude, set against some of our wildest coastal landscapes, that makes them such a compelling subject for photographers. You might choose to shoot one during blue hour, when the artificial illumination is set against the natural light of the sky. Or why not fit a 10-stop filter and go for a long exposure that reflects the passing of time and the scudding clouds above? Then, of course, there’s the option of including crashing waves on the rocks below the lighthouse, demonstrating their strength against the wildest of elements.

The power of nature is shown in a powerful image, a worthy top 10 image that just looks stunning. There were quite a few entries from this location but this really stood out to me as soon as I saw it. The timing is spot on with the waves and also the consideration for a black and white edit also has helped as with no colour you are not distracted by anything else, plus when you start to look at the image you really start to notice how far up that see spray goes on the rocks. Yet another location on my bucket list that I have really enjoyed seeing through your imagery. Thank you

As soon as I saw this image I just felt and just loved the subject within the shot, the rocks, the person giving a sense of scale and the striking orange structure taking up the right-hand side of the frame too. This all feels remote and like an unforgiving landscape and you really have communicated that very well in this work and with the light shimmering across the snow and grass from the sun, you also have some great shadows, Nicely done indeed.
