Fantastic composition, with plenty of foreground interest for the eye to linger on and enjoy before straying over to the more distant lighthouse. I love the colouring of the scene, which looks fresh and natural, with no over-editing or fake skies etc, making the image all the stronger for that. Great shot, well done on your top ten placing.

Although the leading line created by the shallow water on the sand does not actually lead anywhere, it does help draw the viewer's eye to the distant horizon, giving a great sense of openness and fresh sea air. The low viewpoint works well, highlighting textural detail of the ripples in the sand. Conversion to black and white has been well executed and suits the subject, keeping things fairly minimal and understated. Congratulations on your second place finish.

Sunrise and sunset shots can be so cliched, with the sunrise/sunset dominating an image, but here the sky subtlety adds to the scene, without dominating or overwhelming. I love the light airy feel to the landscape, with the lighthouse acting as a strong focal point. The rock pools in the foreground add interest to the composition and complete the scene. Congratulations on your winning image.

Although quite small in the frame, the lighthouse on the rocks is the main focus of the composition, with the line of the grassy path leading ths eye to the rocks and lighthouse. I love the framing provided by the permanently windswept tree, helping remind is why lighthouses are so vital to guide shipping on windy stormy nights. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

This contest is for your photos of lighthouses. They can be in any location whether working or obsolete, but please only enter real lighthouses, not toys or models. It would be nice to see images where the lighthouse is the clear subject of the image, rather than dramatic crashing waves being dominant. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.

A wonderful image, with a dynamic feel in part created by the striations on the foreground rocks which pull the eye to the lighthouse and other buildings in the background. Colours are lovely, with the cool greys contrasting with the warmer touches of pinky peach and the pops of red paintwork. The reflections in the pools in the foreground have been perfectly captured, adding depth and interest to this beautiful landscape. Congratulations on your third place finish.
