Great contest!

After hours of pouring through dozens of excellent entries, pulling my hair out in frustration knowing I could only pick one winner – this was the image that stood out from all the others. The expression on the passenger's face and the excellent use of depth of field are what really turn this from a good image to a great image – Well done and thank you for making my task that much easier.

There were quite a few examples of the exits from canary wharf. Although the others were great images I think this one stands out because of the change from the usual straight-on point of view, to shooting the scene at an angle. The deep shadows from the windows above, the blurred out steps and the predominantly dark tones seem to add an eerie drama to the image.

Another image that didn't go down the traditional route taken by most of the other entries. A good use of a longer shutter speed to record the light trails from the vehicles travelling around the entrance to the station - really well composed.

A really unusual image taken inside a tube train. It almost seems a little abstract because none of the passengers heads are shown. I think the HDR effect works really well, giving the image even more of an unreal feel. There is also a grittiness about the image that is very appealing - Great imaginative shot.

A very striking, high key image of an underground exit. We mostly strive not to lose information in highlight areas - but the photographer has embraced the extreme contrast by letting the highlights totally burn out and this has produced a really interesting image. This is one of those instances when breaking from the norm has really worked.

This picture slaps you in the face and makes you reach for the sun glasses. Its fun, its bright and it cheers you up. Whilst a good many of the others entries were mono , gloomy and moody this stands out like a ray of sunshine - well seen and well done.

I really love this image - It makes me smile. Most shoots of the London Underground are dark and moody - and this is great as it lends itself to this style. However, this is fun and colourful and is a great example of grabbing a quick candid shot. The expression on the girl's face and the pink head band suggest a great night ahead. Brilliant, well done.

As well as the iconic views of The London Underground that we all know and love - show me some of the more obscure places and viewpoints - don't forget to mention where you took the image so we can all benefit from your inside knowledge. Stations, platforms trains and commuters are all permitted - London underground only. Good luck.

This so nearly made my top 10. I love the way the couple are completely oblivious of the rushing passengers around them. The expression between them speaks volumes. A great 'grab shot' and a good lesson in always having your camera to hand.

I'm not sure what it is about this pic that I like - but it draws me to it every time I go through all the entries. I thought long and hard about including it in my top 10 - but in the end it was slightly piped to the post by some of the other great shots. Looking at the passenger's hair being blown in the wind - you can almost feel the train rushing by. But even with noise and vibrations as the train leaves/enters the station, the image seems to conveys a sense of isolation and calmness - well it does to me.
