A very captivating portrait that caught my eye from the second I saw it. I love the choice of subject, but I'm particularly fond of her expression. It makes me imagine what she might be looking at. The black and white grading works beautifully in this shot - it focuses all the attention on the subject's expression and on all the texture that makes the shot so appealing to the eye, from the subject's skin to her coat and the flowers on her hat. I particularly like that the background is blacked out, giving the image the feel of a real studio shot. Well done!

I love how many layers this image is made of. From the teapots and drops in the foreground, to the main subject, to the three men and artwork in the background. Wherever you look, there is something interesting to observe that adds meaning to the image. The light is very well thought out - it well highlights the main subject to make it stand out, catches the water drops that would have otherwise been invisible, and delicately highlights the shape and texture of the teapots in the foreground. Well done!
A wonderfully cute portrait that goes to show how a successful image doesn't have to be overly complicated. In its simplicity, this shot is a very successful portrait. What makes it so captivating (aside from the double glasses sported by the -very cute- subject!) is the exact moment that was captured, in its uniqueness and spontaneity. In a 'Looking good in specs' contest, this image truly deserves to be in the top three. Well done!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** Gone are the days when wearing glasses was uncool. Just check out how many people wear glasses with no prescription for a bit of fun and a change of look! If you’ve spent time taking portraits of people in glasses then you’ll know that reflections off the glasses can be an interesting and sometimes infuriating issue to solve. We’re not advising you to pop the lenses out of your subject’s expensive glasses, but it has been known as a solution. This is a portraiture contest where your main subject should be wearing some specs, and should be the main focus of the image, not just some incidental character in a larger scene please.
