This photo has stuck with me from the start. Was exactly the sort of photo I was after. Lovely light on the white cliffs and across the sea. I then find myself looking acoss the track along the fence but then I see the clouds at the top. Really lovely photo and worthy winner.

Lovely photo. I'm lucky to live not too far away from Skye but am yet to get up into the Storr during sunrise, I've photographed from the loch below. Lovely shadows and golden light on the landscape. Just the sort of photo I was looking for.

Lovely lighting on this photo. You've captured a really pleasant glow on the hills and trees in the foreground. Some nice glints also showing across the image. This is the sort of photo I was looking for in this contest. Thanks for entering.

This photo has equally stuck with me throughout this competition. Again exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Lovely lighting on the architecture of the buildings. I also liked the long exposure effect on the water, a style I also like to go for. A worthy second place, thanks for entering.

Amazing photograph. Very dramatic with the elephants, and sunlit clouds and nothing looks overdone. I can appreciate the difficulty with keeping the detail in the elephants and sun in one shot but you've nailed it. Thanks for entering your photo.

Something of a different entry to most. I like your panning with the horse and rider and the dramatic lighting adds to the image. A difficult shot to get right. Thanks for entering and definitely worthy of the top ten.

Love this. Great to see some wildlife featured with the low lighting. Love the glistening highlights around the hare and foreground. You've also caught the hare with nice sharpness isolating it from the landscape. Very nicely done. Thanks for entering.

Brief

See more contest details

In this contest, I want to see your colour photos taken when the sun is low in the sky. These photos will be taken early morning in the hour after the sun has risen from the horizon, or late evening in the hour before the sun sets below the horizon. The sunlight at this point will be a golden orange colour and there will be long shadows cast. Photos can be of any genre, for example: landscapes, cityscapes, wildlife etc; but must be taken with the golden lighting of the low sun. Please only enter photos in colour to showcase the colour of the lighting. I look forward to seeing your entries.

Meet the judge

This photo caught my eye from the start and narrowly missed out on a top ten place. Great detail on the cliffs and lighthouse. The long exposure effect is an style I like to use a lot - I have a similar lighthouse near my parents which I shoot in a similar way to this. Thanks for entering

This was very close to getting into the top ten. The low light shining against the landscape was just what I was looking for but there have some great entries so the top ten was difficult. Thanks for entering your photo.
