I think this is a brilliant image and very inspirational. The colours in this image are exquisite, I also think the detail on the brushes and the grain in the brush itself is beautifully captured.

I would love to know if this is shot in natural light (which I think it is) or with a flash.

Well done !

This image is beautiful in its simplicity. I gave this 2nd place because the lighting is very good, and it really shone as something different in a large set of images sent in for this competition. It is well thought out, compositionally, and you really get the feeling that the photographer might even be listening to the track being played.

This image is superb and makes a very strong point at being in the top 10 for this competition. I love the composition, the swirling and repetitive nature really draws the viewers eyes into the centre of the image. It would be nice to see the image setup, as I would love to be able to do something like this myself, but I can't really understand how the image has been created. Great work !

I love this shot. I am a massive fan of miniature models, and this is a great use of putting them in miniature situations. The flame is well captured too and I really like the composition. I've never seen these models before either, so fair play for finding them!

The inner and outer surfaces of manmade objects can be just as beautiful, when seen through a macro lens, as anything that nature can produce. Industrial items, mechanics, circuit boards, plastics, toys, surfaces, materials and whirling gizmos – all are welcome for this contest which asks that you look a little closer at the manmade things that surround you.

This was close to getting into the top 10, but strictly speaking it isn't manmade, but still I love the composition. It is beautiful and I think it lets the viewer wonder at how it was captured. Well done, I'd be interested to see more of your work.

I do like this image, but I wouldn't say this is strictly a macro image. The stones are well setup and the composition is good, because you can see the river bed in the background, possibly where the stones have come from, but I think the photographer could have got closer to the subject. It is slightly difficult to be able to capture a true macro image with the lens selected. I do really appreciate the composition though.
