Really nice and well balanced image. The mantis must be really small at this stage and it's really cool you managed to shoot it as it was balanced between the two mushrooms. I would like to see your best colour photos of mantises. These incredible insects are beautiful creatures and fierce predators. Images can show any type of mantis whether in nature or maybe kept at home as pets. Try to be creative with the composition and depth of field. Only colour images for this contest.
I really appreciated this image and it would certainly have done much better if not for the vignette. I think in this kind of moody image the vignette fits well but I would have preferred it to be darker on the top as it is on the bottom of the frame. I feel that on the top it's too well defined. Otherwise a really great image, love the backlighting and the texture of the wings. Thanks for participating in my contest and good job!

Very simple and effective image. The violet spots of the flowers are a good chromatic complement to the green mantis and the creamy background helps everything stand out beautifully. I also appreciate the pretty good parallelism of the subject, which is pretty much all in focus. Thank you for participating in my contest and congratulations!
