having collected and dealt in militaristic for the last thirty years the delight in opening up a tobacco tin or cigar box that holds the history within is aptly summed up in this shot with a collection of medals from the first and second world wars randomly, haphazardly displayed as they have been kept inside their box. a riot of colour from the ribbons the mixture of bronze and silver medals and the story behind them - a fine natural capture that captures the essence of the competition Congratulations Tarquin Shaw-Young FEAA
SO often the components of the medals and plaques of those killed in action are lost THese we're posthumously awarded and sent out in 1922 so for your family this brace soldier killed in the first few months of the war they would have revived these medals some eight years after his death. over the years the war medals being silver suffered the fate of being melted down in the early 70s when silver was at an all time high. with larger families the trio of medals were often divided up - perhaps the case in point with the mons star being missing . but what we have here is the paperwork the letter from the king and a First World War war and victory medal and a personalised letter making these very unique and valuable historically - clearly captured so that all the history is accessible Congratulations tarquin Shaw- Young FEAA

A really great collection here with the tea cup right at the centre of it all uniting the history and the memories. Some lovely images on show here showing a range of service across the era of wartime and a well thought out composition as if we are joining the photo for a cuppa sifting through the shoebox of memories Great capture well done tarquin

A brilliant shot with lots of history on display We have a great Group of First World War medals with ww2 service also probably home guard with the defence medal and then a special constabulary medal also - clearly an accomplished artist, and the other bits of militaria, the belt buckle, shoulder flashes from the territorial royal garrison artillery, cap badge, shrapnel buts etc and the 1914 bayonet either from ww1 service or as used by the home guard when they were re-issued to the home troops. WOuld love to see more of his paintings - a very lovely capture of a service from both world wars Congratulations tarquin Shaw-young FEAA
