As soon as I saw this photo, it caught my eye. I like how minimal/simple it as. Not an easy shot to get travelling at speed. A worthy winner and unique.

This photo was unique and I can see some thought went into it. I liked the set up in the foreground and also the moon light on the sea. A worthy third place.

Another classic idea and well executed. Good detail in the moon and some nice foreground to go with it.

There's a lot to this photo and it caught my eye. I like the sunrise colours, the bird featured and the detail of the moon. I also liked the transition of colours. A great catch and worthy second place.

Excellent photo here. Lovely large moon with some nice detail. Great location chosen, I always like some foreground interest with my moonrise photos.

I'm guessing this was a composite getting all the detail in the milkyway as well? Either way, a stunning photo and a worthy top ten. Lovely detail in all areas.

This is the sort of traditional idea I was looking for (no artificial shots). Great detail and the sort of thing I had in mind when proposing this contest.

A nice little shot. I liked the positioning of the moon and the contrasting simple colours. A worthy top ten.

Nicely timed. A bit different to the other entries and I was looking for some different entries. The balloon is nice and sharp and contrasts nicely with the moon.

In this contest, I am looking for your best moon rising (or moon setting) images with some foreground interest (rather than just a moon in the sky on its own). For those unsure or unfamiliar with this area, a hint would be to use a telefoto lens and pick an item of interest a bit of a distance away from you. Zoom in on that item, and with the moon rising alongside or behind, you can then get a compressed down photo where the moon appears larger as its taking up more of the photo. You can also use software like photopills to plan in advance aligning the moon with your chosen scene. Good luck.

Narrowly missed out on top ten. Great shot nonetheless and definitely worthy of a commend at minimum. The typical shot I'd go for with some foreground interest as well as the moon.

Narrowly missed out on top ten. Great photo and stood out from the beginning. I liked the strong red moon and the windmills/wind turbines provide some foreground interest of a difference.
