This image sums up how we've all been feeling over the last few weeks during the lockdown. Stunning weather outside and a whole world to explore, but we're confined to our homes bar a few all too brief moments outside.

The shadows and the window light are both very striking in this scene but without the figure in the frame, your eye would roam around looking for somewhere to settle. Including a person in the image also helps to give scale.

Timing is key to the success of this image. The natural light is illuminating the subject perfectly and the colours of the bubble show how simple some things can be. Judging by the tears, the bubbles were a distraction from something - we can all relate to that.

A carefully-considered composition with a central main subject. We love the mood and atmosphere of this image and the. small details such as the miss-match socks. All promoted by the subtle use of black and white to add to the tone of the image.

It's the textures and light that make this image stand out so well. The fine defined line of light drawing across the image and the grub, dirt and dust highlighting the shape and form of the. bottles. We love it

*Camera Jabber’s Photographer of the Year 2020 competition is a monthly competition held over 12 rounds with prizes from DxO. At the end of the year, the winning image from each round will go into the final for further consideration by the expert judges. The photographer of the image they select as the overall winner will be awarded the title Camera Jabber Photographer of the Year 2020.* **Round Five: May 2020**<br> **Natural light inside** Many of us may be in lockdown and confined to our own homes but there are lots of great subjects around the house that with the right light can be turned into great photographic subjects. In some cases, it’s the light itself that makes an interesting subject.

Most dogs will take any opportunity to steal a nap and this one looks like it's snuck onto the owner's bed. The fall of the light across the face of the dog and the careful balance of exposure has meant that there's' plenty of detail without the image quality becoming clinical.

The colours in this image are lovely, warm and rich with a nice contrast between the girl's red jacket and the wall. The bubbles also add interest, filling more of the frame and injecting extra colour. You have handled a tricky exposure situation very well.

You have handled the exposure extremely well so that there is still some detail in the faces and hair of the people in the shot but the sky and city beyond aren't burned out. The composition is also excellent and the shadows really add to the image.

It's a classic use of window blinds to create added interest within a portrait image and here it really works well due to the careful attention to detail and the positioning of the model. The shadow on the wall behind her is a bonus.
