This macro shot stuck out when I was reviewing the images for a few reasons. First, I like the sharpness and detail that's been captured here, especially considering how small the subject is. Secondly, I love the colors and iridescence of the wasp. Always amazing to see such beauty and realize that it's too small for the naked eye to truly appreciate.
Macro photography is so addicting as it opens up a new world and gives proper appreciation to smaller subjects. I love the textures, color, and detail of this mossy tree frog that's emphasized in this intimate portrait. There's also a sense of expression that's conveyed as well, which adds to the image.
Fantastic color harmony here. Green is an under appreciated color and one that's not properly represented enough in wildlife photography. The chameleon's expression is a positive addition to the capture along with the curled tail that's included in the frame. Kudos to the photographer on avoiding any glare while taking the exposure.
I was so happy to come across this snake image when reviewing all the submissions. Snakes are incredibly beautiful subjects and very under appreciated in my view. This is a great portrait with a shallow depth of field that give emphasis to the eye while allowing for a pleasing background. The extended tongue definitely adds character.
Primates are incredible subjects as they often portray human like expressions that add emotion to an image. The contrasting expressions are fantastic here. The male is rather intense, while the female is shy or indifferent. I get an impression that these two have been around each other for some time. This photo nails the engagement factor.
This image makes you smile the moment you look at it. I enjoy the multiple subjects and different personalities on display here. It feels like I'm right in the mix. The depth of field renders sharpness where needed and the composition contains a nice diagonal line that helps the viewer move throughout the scene. Well done!

Natural behavior is always something wildlife photographers strive to capture. It's unique to get moments that don't happen often or in plain sight such as the feeding emphasized here. Parental care in the natural world is special and heartwarming for most to see. I'm hoping this new generation will be successful!
Eyes can be a key to the soul and also make or break an animal image. This image is all about the eyes and you can sense the intensity of the leopard in this frame. I rather like that one eye is in the open and the other is behind some blades of grass. It gives perspective on how it hunts and what it might be like to view it from the prey's standpoint.
Most animal shots are portraits, so it's always refreshing to see a capture that includes more breathing room or space. This image not only contains the sheep as the subject, but it also allows for a wider view and includes its surrounding environment which is a fresh perspective. The composition and placement of the sheep in the frame are also strong.

A silhouette is a wonderful approach to capture animals and this is no exception. The inclusion of the tree provides some excellent natural framing and flows around both subjects nicely. The branches have great movement and include some nice curves, which strengthen the composition. A bit of mystery is felt here.
