This is a striking portrait of a Gorilla that uses angled light perfectly. The soft highlights roll beautifully across the subject's face, revealing texture and emotion without overpowering the overall scene. The intimate perspective and quiet pose create a powerful connection with the audience. This will make a great print.

An interesting usage of artificial lighting for the Long Eared Owl "capture". The single illuminated eye immediately becomes the focal point and adds a sense of intensity. The spread wing catches just enough light to reveal some highlights without overpowering the scene. The inclusion of the handler’s arm adds context and tells a story of interaction and trust.

The out-of-focus foreground elements create beautiful pops of yellow that add interest and warm color to the cooler tones of the river scene. The bokeh really elevates the mood and helps draw the eye toward the White Throated Dipper on the rock. The splashes of water also offer nice details.

The top down view is an interesting perspective that helps make this image. a bit more unique. The sea foam creates a wonderful sense of place that compliments the subject and frames it beautifully. The warm light and detailed textures also stand out. Even though this is close up, you still get a sense of a greater beach environment.

The repeating stripes and mirrored feeding posture create a natural rhythmic pattern that’s incredibly pleasing to the eye and make for a strong composition. The tight area of focus emphasizes the abstract quality of Zebra markings without losing the individuality for each of them.. A nicely spotted moment and well executed.

This interaction is quite unique and shows off a sense of connection between two animals. The photographer caught that perfect beat of curiosity and tension between the Dog and the Spider. The close perspective pulls the viewer right into the interaction. Even if there's a huge difference in scale, you feel as if they are both evenly matched.

This image is a humorous play indeed. The irony of the Kingfisher perched confidently on a “NO FISHING” sign gives this image some great charm. The contrast between the weathered human-made sign and the brilliantly colored bird works beautifully, and the soft background helps the subject pop. A clever, well-seen moment.

At first glance you are immediately pulled to the lovely, vivid colors on the Butterfly. That electric green really commands attention. The perch is natural and appealing, and the softly focused background adds context without stealing any focus or attention from the subject. A well balanced, layered, and vibrant composition.

This closeup shot is well done and pleasing. The frame filling detail here, the textures in the feathers, and skin are wonderfully rendered. Also, that pop of warm color along the bill adds just the right amount of contrast. A strong and tight frame that celebrates pattern, structure, and tone.

This is such a standout image and real winner. The panoramic perspective amplifies the sense of community and scale, and the repeating shapes and pops of yellow create a rhythm that pulls you through the frame. The layered habitat gives a real sense of place, and each King Penguin’s posture adds its own personality, making the group feel alive and dynamic.

The dramatic sky creates a natural spotlight effect that leads the viewer straight to the Elephant. The wide-angle perspective adds grandeur and emphasizes the vastness of its habitat. The balance between the vibrant sky and the lush green foreground gives the image an epic, almost painterly feel. A powerful moment captured with scale and mood.

This is a well executed low-key exposure with a studio like feel. The dark background isolates the outstretched wings, allowing every wing, back, and tail feather to stand out. The symmetry is strong, and the lighting brings out an incredible amount of detail. Some of the wing tips are cut off but it doesn't effect the overall quality.

I love the action contained in this frame, and the circular shape formed by the colliding antlers is a wonderfully dynamic compositional element. The tones of the Bucks blend naturally with the surrounding grasses, giving the whole scene a cohesive and organic feel. The moment is well-timed and full of tension.

Now here is a smart composition and playful use of visual repetition. The foreground Dalmatian creates a natural frame that leads the viewer’s eye straight to the second Dalmatian in the distant tunnel. The pattern-on-pattern effect works especially well here, turning a simple moment into an engaging image with layered storytelling.

The intersecting posture of the two Mallard drakes adds a natural flow to the composition, and the iridescent head colors really pop against the earthy tones. The vertical crop is the right call here as both ducks are easily incorporated into the frame with some ample breathing room around the edges.
