New Joiners - Landscapes #745

November 2023

I really liked this image when I saw it, I like the foliage and I like to reflection in the water and the the details that you preserved in the frame. In general To look for areas of improvement, just watch some of those highlights such as in the bottom left hand corner and in the top right hand corner too as a these look a little bit blown out on my monitor, getting this exposure right really helps strengthen the photography

This looks like a good image, the sky has been captured really well the mountain also captured well. Where you could look for some improvement is to just watch the bottom of the frame where the tree is just popping out, by zooming in a little bit more or perhaps angling the camera upwards just to cut those little bits out of the frame will add in a little bit more sky which will just help to strengthen the image a little bit as well.

I really enjoyed sitting his image when I was going through the selection, some strong characteristics of it have to be the golden light the detail in the clouds and that past all sort of golden feel to the whole image. I appreciate this was shot on your iPhone but just be mindful of the edges of the frame, you've got a couple of rocks just coming in to the edge on the left-hand side maybe having a few more of these in the frame could help or maybe excluding them will also help too.

Another really interesting image, with with a good balance of light and the good amount of details where you're not losing some of the image in the Shadows, and the highlights also not being blown out has made for a well balanced photo. The composition is also well balanced and I like how you've captured the movement of the dust In the highlight in the center of the frame.

This is an interesting image, what has really stood out for me is the golden glow in the sky which is also passed on to the foliage that you photographed for your main part of the image. Some of the details of really tack sharp some not so sharp but this is what happens when we shoot f 2.8. Thank you very much for entering your image and keep up the creative work

Thank you very much for sharing this image with us, where there's a lot to see in the image and there's a lot of depth to it with the foreground with the rocks and you can see it's low tide and then the mountains in the background you could really improve this image by just correcting the horizon because it's currently sloping downwards to the left this will really help with the imagery becoming better.

I really like this image, it has some good characteristics such as the leading lines from the darkness of the cliffs running through from the left the right hand side of the frame, the highlights not been blown out some very nice cloud in the sky as well. Where you can make a very quick improvement is just to get rid of those trees at the bottom of the frame, these really distract in the image and either by just zooming in a little bit or even clothing them out this will vastly improve this image.

This is another really nice image to see in this competition, the horizon being in the middle of the frame with the reflection coming into the water from the trees and the clouds works very nicely. The choice of black and white has also helped with the image with a nice amount of contrast in the trees and the buildings, these choices have made for a strong image and the details pop where they need to.

This is a really good image and a worthy winner of this competition. The choice of black and white works very well, I like how on the far left and far right-hand sides of the frame there is some vegetation just to keep the image interesting on both sides the details are preserved very well, even with the slight cloud formation. Thank you very much for entering the competition.

Another really interesting image I like how you've managed to position the bits of rock in the middle of the frame with the water falling of the rock formation that takes you into the top half of the frame where there's a boat and mountains, all whilst you see these textures that have been created by the water hitting off the rocks, overall these are some really nice characteristics in this seascape. Thank you very much for entering the competition

A really nice classic composition with some beautiful golden light, it's good to see you haven't lost part of the image in the shadows or even in the highlights. The focus looks sharp on the trees next to the lake where it should be, so there's pulls the eye in very nicely to where it should be. Thank you very much for entering the competition.

There's some really good characteristics with this image, I like how you haven't blown out the highlights and also you've kept the detail in the boats as I would have thought they'd be moving a little bit on the water. You have capturing the mist very well in this shot and also the attention to the golden light and the morning sun has also been retained. Thank you very much for entering the competition

This is a very nice nightscape image you have captured, there's lots of stars that are tack shark and this really makes the image stand out, I also like how the exposures not too long so the stars haven't trailed at all as well. The white balance looks good for in the night sky and other details pop in the image, such as a little bit of light pollution to the left-hand side of the building but also being able to see the slats of wood on the structure too. Thank you very much for entering the competition.

This is a really nice image, one of the big standout parts has to be the careful consideration of what amount of skyline Vs clouds, thus allowing as to see the beautiful sky but also allowing us to see some of the skyline from the city. Then upon closer inspection when looking at the image you notice on birds flying around and then your eye gets pulled into the beautiful shape of the clouds as they sit beautifully above the city skyline. You can say some of the buildings lights on and then you notice that all the details in the shadows are not lost I like these little amounts of detail that you can see as it helps to tell the story of the location. Thank you for entering the competition

Meet the expert judge

This is a really nice detail rich image telling the story of a lovely place. I like the amount of detail you've captured in the bridge such as the walkway the rust on the metal and this sets the character for the location it makes you feel like it's isolated, cold and an unforgiving environment. The snow capped mountains and what looks like a winding river in the frame also help to set this scene as well ensuring these details are nice and sharp has really added to this image.
