This is a lovely 'beauty' shot. Capturing the makeup artist and subject together like this creates an interesting mix of beauty photography and documentary. I like the mix and think it works well. The composition and colour treatment is excellent.

I love the way hands can be so expressive - they're an obvious starting point for a portrait, however, I think they can work really well in evoking the essence of someone. The simplicity of the composition, the black and white treatment and the connection between the subject and the soil works a treat in this delightful image.

There's a lot to love about this image. First, composing as vertical panorama, which might seem unconventional for a portrait works really well, and the 'space above the subject's head is perfectly balanced. The colour palette especially the red and yellow is sublime. However, it's the expressions and attitude of the subjects that really makes this a great image.

The bold and confident lighting has been well handled. In the style of classic film noirs, the image is loaded with a sense of mystery and intrigue. Converting to black and white was a good decision and works exceptionally well. Well done!

A delightful image of a woman hanging out her laundry in Cuba. The subtle, delicate colour pallet reflected in the old, peeling paint on the wall of the building creates a wonderful framing device. The overall handling of the tones, colours and composition has been nicely handled. Well done!

Wow, what an amazing point of view. I love the feeling that both the subject and photographer are fully immersed in and connected with the environment. I also like the way the position of the subject with their back to the camera invites us, as the viewer, to share the amazing vista.

A well-conceived idea that has been realised with skill and creative vision. The lighting has been expertly controlled and helps tease out the colour harmonies you aspired to evoke. The 'halo' has been also been beautifully handled. The pose, costume and composition all speak to the heavenly vibe.

I love the composition and point of view in this bold and confident image. The hard, crisp and contrasty light, the clean background and sharp, shapes of the cart all work beautifully together. The clincher for me is the echo of green from the fruit and veg in the cart and the chap's shirt. Nicely seen.

A lovely, quietly spoken image that is loaded with a sense of nostalgia. This feeling is mainly evoked through the clever use of a sepia tone, but there is also something about the composition, the light, the sun and the pose of the subject that also speaks to a sense of the past.

The arrangement of all the elements in this image come together perfectly and form a wonderful composition. The shapes, lines, tones, colours and shadows are all working in harmony with one another. This is a really nicely seen and perfectly captured image.

The 'language' of photography can be a powerful way to communicate and comment on the world. The 'language' of photography is also arguably the most universal language in the world, and so it is great to see the photographer addressing important issues in this striking image.

This is a really engaging portrait. Approaching people in the streets to ask to take their photo can be quite daunting, so well done for seizing the moment. Your choice of clutter-free background works really well and just goes to show what's available on a regular high street if you improvise. The lighting also works well too, however, it's the connection with the subject that makes this such a good portrait.

This is a striking and impactful portrait. The lighting has been expertly handled creating a lovely catchlight and sense of depth. The slightly muted colour palette complements the subject. However, it is the engagement and connection with the subject that gives the image its strength.

An excellent shot, packed with energy and dynamism. The composition is beautifully considered with space for the subject to ride into. The flowing movement of the wedding dress and the motion of the horse have been captured perfectly. Finally, the mono treatment adds to the drama and is the icing on the cake.

An excellent image, in which the viewer is invited to share the awe-inspiring vista with the two subjects. The red colours of the two hats perfectly complement the blue hues of the landscape creating a lovely focal point. It's a slight shame about the other people in the bottom right, perhaps waiting a few minutes for them to move would have improved the image.
