A splendid portrait from the Tokyo fish market. It is a wonderful market and feast for the eyes. I love the way that so much of the subject's shop is in the frame which really helps to build the story. I also like the fact that the subject is not looking (and grinning) at the camera this gives the shot more authenticity.

I love the sense of narrative in this image, The 'story' is emphasised by the clever framing which suggests that the viewer is looking through a door (or similar) onto a quiet contemplative scene. Lovely use of light and natural colour pallet.

Lovely use of lines, shape, tones, textures and of course colour to give this image a sense of dynamic motion. The setting with its distinctive lines has provided subtle but useful compositional elements which help draw the viewer's gaze toward the subject.

This is a fantastic image, charged with visceral energy. It is mysterious and thought-provoking. I love the way the human figure has been integrated into the landscape. There is a wonderful rawness that's emphasised through the great use of tones, textures, lines and compsotion. Excellent work, well done!

A well-controlled studio portrait. It's not easy to work with studio lights, but one of the advantages of the new continuous lighting is the ability to easily change the colour temperate. In this instance warming the light up to accentuate the golden vibe was a pitch-perfect call. Nicely done!

What a lovely image filled with joy and happiness. Naturally, the timing was of the essence and this is what makes the shot so successful. I wonder how many attempts it took? Shooting into the light has its challenges too, but the exposure has been handled well, -with just enough detail where it counts. `

A magnificent street portrait. This is a poignant image that reflects the time we're living in. It's not just the ever-present face mask, but also the expression, lighting and composition along with the black and white conversion that all speak so eloquently to the current vibe.

There is a great sense of light and colour in this photo. The figure set against the rich and sumptuous dark background adds a sense of depth and intrigue. However, it is the expression and gaze of the subject that makes the image shine.

A splendid image that carries all the right notes. The restrained and thoughtful composition is the perfect balance to the cool, calm expression of the subject. There is a lovely natural sense of colour and light that gives the image an authentic feeling.

It's always great to see photographers take a step back in this category and include a wider view. For me, there is a haunting and surreal bleakness to this image that resonates on many levels. The flecks of snow are the icing on the cake (literally).

An interesting and powerful image. The direct gaze of the subject is penetrating. I'm not sure of the exact story behind this image, but from reading the caption it feels like it was pre-mediated and perhaps a little antagonistic. While it is a good image, it's good to remember to be kind and respectful to your subjects.

A daringly subtle and restrained image in which it's hard to see at first glance what's really going on. However, it's an image that engages and reveals nuanced meaning on closer inspection. It's great when images can do this. Good work!

Nicely captured street portrait. I sense echoes of the great American photographer and Magnum member, Bruce Gilden being channelled in this shot. The use of flash, low camera angle, dynamic gesture, gritty, black and white conversion all speak to this. Good work!
