The sheer joy on the individuals face really brings this image alive and makes us the viewer smile along with them. The use of black and white means we focus on the individual and what they are doing without the distraction of color. The leading lines of the ropes takes our eye to the main areas of interest and the lines all pointing in the same direction focus us on the activity that the person is doing. Sheer joy and inspirational. Well done. Lovely photograph.

This is such a modern scene. There is so much to like about this picture and the skill is looking around at these individuals and groups who make up this rich tapestry of a photograph. it could have been styled by the team behind the series Sex and the City. The clothes that they all wear are immaculate and the subtle colors work so well with my gaze focusing in on the blue and orange bags the ladies hold. it's an intriguing scene. What are the couple talking about. Who is the lady on the phone to and who is the man looking at. We will never know. This is just a beautifully constructed and very well times candid street photograph. Great.

A stunning yet simple portrait proving that they can make great images. The muted low saturation works so well as it brings out the color in the cats eyes and that wonderful smile on the girls face is warm and enigmatic. The shallow depth of field brings our attention to the main area but still allows us to see the setting of the image with the interior backdrop. The close crop works very well and the technique is flawless. A lovely family portrait. Well done.

This is such a marvelous capture. It's fun and quite surreal. The muted color scheme works well so that the surprise is that we at first don't see what is going on in the entire scene. Once we realize the strangeness of what the photographer has encountered then had the speed of mind to make such a great image. it is then a wow moment. The fact the gentleman seems so comfortable and in his element is amazing, he is so relaxed and then the bag of shopping next to him works so well but the broadsheet he is reading in such a confined space is wonderful. This is a stunning example of carrying a camera with you always because you never know what you may find. Quirky , complex and stunning. An amazing picture.

You get a real sense of piece within this image. The photographer has allowed us the viewer space to take in the environment around the main point of focus. The individual who lost in his own passion, of playing music adds that pop of color in his orange top. The green neutral space is the perfect setting for him and this scene. I wonder what he is playing. We will never know but what a charming photograph this is. Well done.

This could be a film still. It looks like a set. The incredible technique, sharp focus and how our eye is taken around the entire frame really elevates this photograph. It reminds me of the film like stills that Gregory Crewdson makes. The highly saturated colors work well as does the relationship between the skate borders and the background which gives us a sense of the setting. This is a great capture and very technically precise. Well done.

The quality of light and powerful colors on the firefighters against the darker greys of the background really make this image stand out. The light which hits all the glass building really does allow a photographer to create cinematic photographs in these glass like cities. This type of image, known as late photography or after the event is stunningly captured within this scene. We see the smashed car and the perfectly placed fire engine but we don't know what happened we can only imagine from experience. This great capture reminds of the amazing work of Joel Sternfeld. This is a wonderful example of this genre of work. Very well done.

A great image that showcases, ritual and respect. I love the little boy looking up to the elder to make sure he is doing things correctly whilst the girl on the right bows in respect and prayer. The slight dodging of the boys face works well so that his eyes and expression are at the center of the image and draws all our attention on him and those wonderful eyes.The use of black and white firmly puts this within a documentary tradition and it works all the better for that. A great candid picture. Well done.

This takes me back to those warm hazy summer evenings. We have seen this stare and concentration in so many movies in the 80s and 90s. The fact that it is not fully silhouetted helps us read the photograph and brings the background in whilst also giving that sense of space between the foreground and background. The positioning of the photographer with the light directly into camera is very well controlled as the flare adds to the image. The monochromatic warm browns add to that sense of summer and tight crop brings all the detail to us. I hope he scored a home run. Great Capture.

This is such a dramatic and really beautiful portrait of an old man. The ability of the photographer to go so close and the allowance by the subject who looks so comfortable is to be applauded. It's a deeply moving photograph. The stare aimed directly back at the photographer and then us the audience means we cant escape. We have to look and question our own life experience. The technique is beyond reproach and the use of black and white works very well. The square format adds that extra piece of history and it reminds me of the very poignant images made by Richard Avedon of his father Jacob. This is lovely and brave.

This could be a painting. a Turner. The warm light and tranquil setting make this a dream like photograph. The lovely reflected image works so well as do the warm summer hues. The golden light on the girls hair works so well and really brings the image alive. The use of a shallow depth of field in relation to a wide angle lens allows us to see the foreground and background setting really well which brings the whole scene together. Great image.

You can almost smell the clean air and sense of freedom and wonder the gentleman is experiencing. This is a very well constructed photograph. The relationship between the environment and the mans position within the frame works so well as does that sharp ledge he stands on. The photographer has allowed the space to take center stage and why not, it's magnificent. The cool color palate works very well and the slightly low camera angle really brings the mans face and body shape into real focus. A stunning capture.

Shooting from the hip was a photographic genre all of its own mainly perfected by the American Photographer Garry Winogrand and continued by Bruce Gilden. This is a fantastic example of the genre. By turning the camera at an angle firstly you get a lot more information within the frame and you then create are really interesting dynamic. The use of black and white further fits into the style and the exposure is really well controlled given the subtle difference between the highlights and shadow details in the foreground. This is a great candid capture set within the street. Great Image..

Everything works very well in this posed photograph. The girls expression and engagement with the flowers around her. The clever way they have made sure she wears a floral top which works so well set within the flowers. The sharp focus on her face against the blurred fauna in the foreground works well and put our focus on her face. The colors are vibrant and perfect for this scene. Great capture.
