A great scene captured here, in the spirit of classic street photography where the subjects within the photograph are unaware of the photographers's presence - candid photography captured in a public space. The photographer has used a long(ish) lens to flatten the perspective ; pointing the lens down a crowded street giving us a flavour of the busy lively city on a hot summers night. In the foreground are two couples - on the left in the throws of a heated exchange; not giving a damn who sees them; and the couple on the right - calm and holding hands; the woman leans back shocked at this public display going on near them. A great candid moment captured. Congratulations!

A brilliantly artful depiction of the hustle and bustle of nightlife. The slow shutter speed (and double exposure?) gives us a surreal montage - full of colour and bright artificial light - of human interaction. Hints of crowds having a good time as well as the close up of faces caught in purple light nicely composed within the frame, top right. Along the middle of the frame we see all the activity, below the flash of bright lights. I really like the arrangement of figures and action and faces within this image. A superb visual summation of nightlife. Well done! A deserved winner.

This is a beautifully lit night landscape where the photographer has bothered to do more than take a skyline full of brightly lit skyscrapers. They have found a contrasting texture and shape in which to bring it out and give it more context; underpinning the sharp geometric skyscraper skyline with a completely contrasting snowy ground below it, where the shadows have caught the irregular rough surface of the ice. You get a sense of place here, which is great. A really well-thought out landscape photograph. Well done.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** How to capture the expectation, the fun, the clamour and the chaos of nightlife. What we do after dark, in pubs, bars and clubs, in theatres and restaurants, on the street, in taxis and buses. Intrepid photographers who get in the face of this enjoyment, often getting carried along with it as well, document this expression of the human need to socialise, let go, and reward ourselves for our daily efforts.
