April 2025

A really lovely early evening image as the sun goes down on this group of vintage cyclists deep in conversation. The daylight is fading fast but just enough with the help of a nearby street lamp to illuminate the scene. Shot wide open the background fades into a pleasing soft haze. A really nice composition - great work!

I love this unique image of a busy London street scene, shot I assume from the top deck of another bus. We get an inside view of the weary commuters on the their way home from work - the traffic slowly edging forward along the city streets. The vibrant reds contrasting well with the overall scene - great observation.

A classic night time image - the vibrant neon red from the adult shop illuminating the scene. A young man emerges from the venue into the city, clutching a bottle of beer. A great observation well captured - loads of brilliant detail and colour - a fantastic street shot.

A great example of the slow shutter speed used to full effect here. An urban highway shot at night revealing ghostly light trails of the moving cars against the evening sky. A really nicely composed shot capturing lots of lovely detail at f22. Nice work!

An amazing image of a firepot performer - there's no more information unfortunately but it's a really stunning shot which definitely grabs the attention. We can just about make out a shadowy figure as he spins iron nets of red hot charcoal - the orange sparks and flames contrasting against the night sky. The fast shutter speed has stopped the action perfectly - great shot!

What we do after dark, in pubs, bars and clubs, in theatres and restaurants, on the street, in taxis and buses. Intrepid photographers who get in the face of this enjoyment, often getting carried along with it as well, document this expression of the human need to socialise, let go, and reward ourselves for our daily efforts.
