Norwegian Landscapes

Top marks on looking for a composition that brings everything about Norway into one image. The small fishing communities living by the water, offset by the huge mountains and finally the lovely touches of the northern lights. These images that blend artificial lights with natural lighting are often hardtop find a balance on exposure and white balance.

I love images that show the environment in which people live and work backdropped by the majestic landscape. The wonderful afterglow of colour on the mountains offset by the lights in the town give a wonderful sense of scale and awe to this scene.

Thank you for showing us a wonderful spring / summer scene. The lush green vegetation, the majestic waterfall and receding hills. The little bit of light hitting the foreground and hinting at those typical Norwegian style houses. The image has a painterly quality that really adds to the atmosphere.

A beautifully constructed and well executed image. The conditions were just perfect and the moon just adds that's extra bit of light to lift the mountains. I would be interested to read more about the techniques employed but I would think a well balanced time blended image for foreground and northern lights. Do let us know.

Well done. This image reflects everything about the mood atmosphere. It is a great example of how to take advantage of dull and dreary weather to create something quite special. The rings are a nice touch in the water. I love the strong lead-in line of the rope from bottom corner.

A classic viewpoint for a reason. Beautifully lit by the winter light with seemingly calm conditions. I liked your wider crop on right to ensure the whole building stayed in the frame. The letterbox crop works very well. I also like the very natural feeling of the rendering of the sky.

I enjoyed this composition and the nice reflection of colours in the still waters. Red huts offset against mountain ranges are a feature of this great country. This image is a good example of how to find an interesting and engaging composition when the skies are clear and blue.

Segla in all her beauty. A classic composition but your timing is perfect. The light hitting the sides of the mountains give a real sense of 3D to this picture. The warm tones that carry though the entire image and into the distant sky tie this image together.

You must have been thrilled to have been treated to such a beautiful display. I enjoyed dividing this into 3rds. The water and land followed by the lights and the reflections these create. Finally the clear sky and beautiful stars. The inclusion of a shooting star top right adds to keeping all that night sky.
