What a beautiful photograph, soft and dreamy, well composed and with a very fitting subdued colour palette.

I’m not sure if the dancer is sad, lonely, tired or a combination of all three but the image conveys a strong sense of melancholy.

A delightful picture …… congratulations on your top ten placing.

This could almost be a companion piece to my second placed image, portraying as it does the loneliness of incarceration.

The contrasty monochrome presentation suits the image content perfectly and I’m left wondering what on earth the prisoner is writing on the walls. Tantalizingly the script is in Arabic and so I shall never know.

Congratulations on a fine entry.

What a great image this is, a lone figure framed by and looking out beyond an all embracing concrete landscape. A composite I would think but that matters not a jot, for me it is very much the impact of the final image that counts and not how that image was arrived at.

I think that part of the attraction for me is that the opening looks very much like a mouth. Has the figure been swallowed up or has he escaped and contemplates the world beyond.

Either way an impressive image and very worthy of first place.

The loneliness of old age portrayed in a most creative and quite striking way.

Again, this image begs the viewer to wind a story around the content and asks questions rather than providing answers. My guess is that the empty sofa alludes to the loss of a life partner but I find the bright flowers quite incongruous with this idea and to be honest I find the direct stare of the old man rather unnerving.

It’s a high impact and most unusual image …… bravo.

Unlike many of the other entries this image illustrates a happy sort of solitude. A young girl wandering along a deserted beach and pausing here and there to look at the shells and pebbles.

I like everything about this picture, the monochrome presentation, heavy vignette, silhouette figure and silver sweep of wet sand guiding the eye nicely through the image to the lights of the resort behind.

Excellent work ….. well done.

I saw this image and immediately thought of the Little Mermaid sculpture in Copenhagen, albeit with a man rather than a mermaid.

Such a simple picture of man alone with his thoughts but the composition is spot on and the monochrome presentation very pleasing.

A fine image, well done.

I like the simplicity of this image of a lone girl in a deserted railway concourse. Lovely light too with the silhouettes, shiny floor and long shadow stretching toward the viewer.

One suggestion would be to convert the picture to pure monochrome as I find the scattered hints of colour to be slightly distracting?

All in all though a fine image …… well done.
