Such a simple yet striking photograph! This composition is proof that if you look at it closely, nothing in life is ordinary. A matchbook might just be an ordinary object, but the frame of this shot, the way the matchbooks are stacked up, the sharpness of the diagonal lines and the bold red match heads give this photograph a meaning far beyond the matchbook itself holds. The repetitiveness of the triangular shapes adds dynamism to the simplicity of the everyday object. Great work!
The rounded hole through which we see the pile of fish attracts the spectator’s attention directly to the center of the composition, where the fish create a very organic pattern. The lighting and the vivid contrast make the scales on the fish extremely distinguishable. The subtleness created by the monochromatic color scheme is interrupted once you look at this image closely and realize how many different types of fish there are in the pile. Love it!
The perfectly balanced composition, which does not obsess over the symmetry, thrives as it is accompanied by the vivid lighting, the dynamism added by the diagonal patterns of the paddy and the strong woman figure in motion. If you look at it closely, you discover hints of many subtle details, such as the two pigeons in the background and the patterns on the woman’s broom. Her posture and the position of her arm make you wonder what her story is; whether she is enjoying the moment in a dancing manner or being bothered by the heat of the sun. Then you suddenly notice her shadow on the ground, and start wondering what time of the day it might be. It is impossible to stop investigating the story behind this photograph. Marvelous work. Congratulations!

“What we call chaos is just patterns we haven’t recognized. What we call random is just patterns we can't decipher.” ― Chuck Palahniuk Patterns are a part of our everyday lives wherever we go, whether they are subtle or bold. Sometimes they are the cans of pickles on a shelf, heaps of sunflowers in a Tuscan field or the buildings lying across the Manhattan skyline. You simply can't miss them. Patterns define the way our brains associate places with memories. They can get engraved into our subconscious minds and become the primary visual element of our dreams. Even our bodies are made out of patterns. Let's see how the patterns in your life appear to you from your own perspective!
