People in (and under) the water

I really like the strong visual composition of this picture. The concentric, circular rings of the ripples radiating out from the centre splash stand out very well. The almost monochrome tones of the white splash and reflection of the sky contrast well with the dark water.

I like the minimalistic composition in this picture. The soft blue tones give a lovely, peaceful feel about the image and the spot colour of red light from the torch draw my eye to the centre. The plume of bubbles rising to the surface complete the image.

This is a fun image which made me smile and stood out for its originality. I really like the composition of the toes sticking out the water and the reflections. The soft tones from the window light are nice. The colour palette has worked well too.

This is a different way of showing people underwater. Looking up at the sky and seeing people swimming is certainly not what you see everyday (unless you live and work close by). Very nice composition with the sharp angles of the building and the pool contrasting with the soft clouds in the sky.

The lighting in this image stood out for me, the use of different colour lights focussed on different parts of the model's bodies is very nicely done and the colours pop out against the dark background.. The models have been posed in a very nice way.

This image stood out because of its distinct bird's eye viewpoint. The small figures playing in the sea part the waves and gives a lovely contrast to the white, foamy waves. The warm colour of the sand also contrast very well with the white wash of the sea.

There were lots of great surfing images in this contest but the subject was in or under the water, this was one of a few that were actually underwater. The energy of the the barrelling waves crashing above against the calmness underneath is great. The different textures of the water is very interesting.

I really like how the sunlight has illuminated the texture of the water on the swimmer's head as they break the surface of the water. The use of a telephoto lens and shallow depth of field has made the subject stand out from the foreground and background.

I like the way the ripples and texture of the water from above has distorted the view of this lady underwater in this image. It has created a very soft and peaceful feel for this image. The soft lighting is nice and the soft hues of white and blue adds to making it al work really well..

The clever use of rotating this image 180 degrees gives this image an other worldly feel where the surface of the water becomes the ground and the swimmer feels suspended in air. The light rays coming through the water are great and illuminate the swimmer against the dark background very well.

I like the energy in this picture. The splashing water, frozen by the fast shutter speed is great while the expression of the gentleman in the water is also frozen in time. the monochrome tones and contrast make it a lovely picture.

This image stood out with several factors. The expression caught on the swimmer's face while he catches a breath is great. I like the blur of his arm and the water coming off it while the other water around him is frozen by the fast shutter speed. I like the colour and contrast treatment also.

I like the abstract capture of this image. It has loads of energy and I can feel and hear the splashes coming from the person running through the water. The slow shutter speed and the movment of the camera has created a great picture.

This is a very nice fashion underwater image. The red dress and flowers pop out against the dark blue background. The lighting is very nice with a slightly warmer backlight highlighting the model's hair. The bubbles coming frothier hand is a nice touch, a very peaceful image.

I really enjoyed looking at this image, it has so much energy. The expression on the lady's face makes me smile as she enjoys the muddy water. The fast shutter speed has frozen the splashes of water coming off her arms very nicely and the rivers of water running down her body are great!
