I am usually not a huge fan of posed pictures, especially ones with plain backgrounds, but I have to say, I was immediately drawn to this photo. Perhaps it's the sort of ethereal mood created by the lighting, the nature themed colours, and the quiet, peaceful feeling that the violinist exudes. Either way, this is a very good photo. Congrats!
The lighting in this photo is one of my favourite things. Although I've seen quite a few photos in this competition with the "classic" green and orange stage lighting, I think your photo captures it in one of the best ways. The way you have the photo composed so that the person's head/face is almost backlit by the green light, while the orange light softly shines upon the drums is really nice. Very well done!
I am absolutely in love with the mood in this picture. It feels intimate and quiet, and because of the black and white colouring, almost feels like night, which is even quieter and calmer of a feeling (although, for all I know this could be taken in the middle of the day). Personally, if I had been taking the potto, I would've tried to take it at such an angle so that the sewerhole cover was not visible, as it is a little distracting. Besides that small detail, the photo is perfect.
This photo is unique in that one of the people's faces is not facing the camera, which isn't something I've seen much in this competition. I really like the concept, as it's almost as if the musicians are singing to one another, instead of solely to the audience. It really speaks to the concept that while music is for sharing, it's also for bonding with our friends and fellow musicians. Very well done!

I love this picture so so much, from the obvious happiness on both your mother and father's face, and the expressive facial expressions that are on the musician's faces. They are obviously fully in the moment and I love that you were able to capture that. I also think that the framing is quite nice, and the black and white adds a nice layer of muteness that's perfect for an observer of the scene, as we, as viewers of the photo, are. Congratulations on 1st place, it is well deserved!
This was definitely in my top 10 pictures for a while. Unfortunately there were just too many good photos to choose from! However I had to comment on it, because it's a fantastic photo. I love the concept of the man being shown with his instrument in the mirror, as it adds an element of depth and also makes the viewer look twice at the photo. I definitely thought there were two identical musicians playing back to back when I first looked at it! The only thing I would've changed was cropping out the yellow flowers(?) to the side of the man as I found them a bit distracting. But besides that, amazing picture! Keep it up!

This contest is for your photos of people playing any kind of musical instrument. Photos can be in colour or black and white.
I absolutely love this photo. It really shows to me how music could connect us as a society and bring us together, despite having to be physically apart (both during the pandemic and in other times). The angle of the photo is not my favourite, I might've tried to get it more head-on while still in eluding the woman in the back. Besides that, stellar photo. Keep up the good work!
I'm usually not a fan of mostly black photos because they're boring to me. However, this photo is an exception. The way it's lit and the way that you captured the man's face is just so perfectly mysterious and almost gives me a feeling of sadness, though I can't exactly pinpoint how or why. It makes me intrigued to know more. Where this was taken and what emotions the song he was playing had. Love the photo. Keep it up!
I love the colours in this photo. I love how everything is beige (even his pants match exactly with the walls and bridge), except for his shirt and that one muted glow of light in the background. The colour composition really draws attention to the subject. I also like the muteness of the rest of the photo because it gives me a calm feeling. This could be taken on the busiest road in the world and I'd have no idea. I just feel calm, like I could go to sleep. Keep it up, great work!
This was my top photo for a long time. When I saw it, I was immediately drawn to it because of the man's strong emotions clearly emanating from the picture. I also love the movement the picture gives, with the slightly blurred left hand, showing that he is in the process of playing the instrument. But my favourite thing about this picture is the boy behind him, watching him him play with such intent. It really shows how music can capture people. I don't think I'd change anything about this photo. Keep up the great work!!
