I really love how you have chosen to compose this photo. The dark negative space gives the performer space and lets the music she is making have room to be heard. Your exposure is spot on, as is your focus. The reflections in the horn make it all the more interesting. You have captured real feeling, because it's there.
Fun photo of what looks like a great night out. You have captured the whole crowd enjoying themselves. I love it that one performer is facing more to the camera and encouraging the crowd behind where you are standing. Nice choice to convert this image to black and white as I think in enhances the feel of the show.
I love the movement, shapes, and color in this photograph. There's just enough that's (nearly) sharp to make it work. The large negative space of yellow provides the music and adds wonderful drama the enhances the movement of the dancers and the woman's expression. You have captured such feeling with this photo.
Great moment of the Boss captured doing what he does so well! Wonderfully sharp, great timing. Great to see some of the band in the background. I think it would have been a stronger image if there was more depth of field so the band was blurred, but not as much as they are. I know it's tough to make these calculations in these situations. I am sure it was an awesome show. (I saw him crowdsurf in Sydney, 2014. 2nd song into the concert and away he goes into the crowd! I saw him again a few weeks later in Auckland. Best two shows I've ever experienced :) )
This is a superbly timed and well crafted image that has captured the moment and the passion of the performer. Anyone who views this knows immediately the performer was giving it their all. Your timing is great. Your exposure is spot on. She is as sharp as could be. I love the tone range from not too dark to not too bright. Your composition enhances the whole feeling of this terrific performance photograph.
You've captured the moment well. The lighting and atmosphere in your photo are perfect. It gives a real sense of a fun time and the enjoyment the spectators were experiencing by being there. I think it would have been a much stronger image if you could see the performer's face, either turned and connecting with someone in the crowd, or coming towards your camera.
This is a very interesting combination of dancer and street art. The movement in the dancer and the art mimic each other so well. The placement of the hands and legs of the dancer as she leaps is just right. Your timing is great. I think it would have been a stronger image if there was not so much background of the other building and the dark area at the bottom right.
Quite spectacular, especially with the background of the mountain. Your timing and composition are great. The light created by the flares adds nice depth and interest on the body of the helicopter. Your shutter speed was just right to capture a combination of movement but to also get the main subject sharp.
I bet these guys sounded awesome. Your photo captures such passion and enjoyment that the sounds they were making making must have been amazing. I love that you have published it in black and white.. The tone range in your image is lovely and it totally suits the mood of the photo. Great timing and composition. Getting in close with a wide lens makes this kind of photo so much more effective. Nicely done.
Such a fun, passionate image. I am drawn to performers who obviously put everything into their music, and this man certainly is. Your timing enhances the feeling and gusto of the music. The broken bow strings along with his wild hair and expression all work so well together. Great exposure and sharpness. Because of your photo I looked him up on Youtube. Wonderful!

I love the surreal feeling to this photo of a street performer. It's like she is in a completely different world and no one else in the photo is aware of how beautiful her song is. Your choice of shutter speed it perfect. You have her nice and sharp and a good amount of blur in all the other people. I am left wondering where her guitar is?
Superb timing and great composition. You have your subject so fabulously sharp. Your depth of field is perfect. The spectators are not at all distracting, but their expressions and interest in this dancer is very obvious. Well balanced. I had to look twice to believe that his hand is not on the ground!

There’s a thrill in watching live performance, and when photographed well some of that energy and emotion can be successfully conveyed through time and space. Photographing theatre, dance, concerts and other forms of entertainment throws up a few technical challenges, most often in the form of low levels of lighting and moving subjects, as well as having to do the best with the vantage points available to you.
