For this contest I would like to see your best shots of rain. Images can show landscapes, street photography, or maybe close-ups, captured in the day or at night. The subject is open but there must be rain in the picture. Entries can be in colour or black and white.
Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. I liked the simplicity of this image with the square crop and the unusual viewpoint - I don't think I've ever seen a photo of the underside of the sail before. The subject is nice and sharp and you've left enough room for the snail to move diagonally through the image.
Congratulations on your placing in this competition!
Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. It's great to see an action shot of an adult blue tit feeding its young. The nicely out of focus background helps to make the birds stand out. Your focus is spot on as you've captured the catchlights in the eyes of both birds.
Congratulations on your placing in this competition!
Thank you for entering my Rain competition. I commended your photo because I liked the title and you've included a great story to accompany your image. You can see that the rain is really pouring down the window and I also like the delicate shades of blue in your monochrome image.
When I first saw your image, I did wonder whether it was an ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) image. However, you've listed "Getting a sharp photo of the rain" in the technical challenges section, so I assume you didn't intend to create an ICM image. If you were handholding your camera then the slow shutter speed you've used (1/10 second) would have contributed to the lack of sharpness. I don't know about you but I find that if I need to use a slow shutter speed (anything below 1/80 second), I have to use a tripod, or something solid to rest the camera on to ensure a sharp image.
Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. Some people might not like the subject's placing in the centre of the image, but for me, apart from the fact that there is space for the subject to move into, the centre placing also gives a sense of how far he has already run. The low viewpoint and cropping the subject above the knees creates a strong image. Also, the aperture used has created a shallow depth of field which allows the subject to stand out from the background which is essentially the same shade in this grayscale image. Congratulations on your placing in this competition!
Thank you for entering my Rain competition. This image has a great story and wonderful composition. The road running diagonally through the scene and the frozen splash around the moped (which is perfectly placed on the third) contribute to the great sense of movement in the image. Including the edge of your umbrella at the top of the image with the rain pouring down certainly helps to emphasize the rain and you have also managed to make sure the colourful parts of the image stand out without being too oversaturated. Congratulations on your winning image!

Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. I liked this image as soon as I saw it but had to think quite hard about why I liked it. In the end I came up with several reasons as follows:
Anyway, congratulations on your placing in this competition!
Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. The rain bursting out of the clouds in the bottom half of this lovely panorama has added an interesting dimension to the overall image. You've post processed this image well to bring out some of the subtle details in the darker parts of the image. Congratulations on your placing in this competition!
Thank you entering my Rain competition. I think what first attracted me to this image were the purple clothes of the couple in what is essentially a brown and grey image; although there is a bit of complementary yellow from the light inside The Grill, as well as the fresh green and pink of the hanging basket. The camera settings and the post processing actions have been used to create an interesting and well composed image. Congratulations on your 3rd place in this competition.
Thank you for entering my Rain competition. I am guessing that the image was taken in a car park because the cars visible in the background have no lights showing - a very unassuming location for such a strong composition. I love the low viewpoint you've chosen because this allows you to appreciate the beautiful water crowns created by the rain drops. The delicate silver and grey tones of the image are relieved by the hints of colour from the parked cars. Congratulations on your 2nd place in this competition!

Thank you for entering my Rain competition.. This is a beautifully simple composition, with the wet pavement reflecting the lights of the portal and creating a circle to frame the person with the umbrella. I can't decide whether the street lights to the right of the person are distracting or not. Nonetheless, I like this image, so congratulations on your placing in this competition!
