Great contest!

The vikings are coming and this photograph has captured the spirit and rage of these invaders, I liked the reflection in the water but there is a very tight crop on both sides, I have the feeling that was to cut out this group from a much larger invading force but I would have liked a little space on both sides to frame the vikings, a nice shot which has captured the event.

I liked the way that the re-enactors are appearing out of a vignette of mist, you have also captured the moment when the flintlocks actually fired the powder which gives a real sense of action and I could almost smell the powder. Having 3 in the front line also gives a nice sense of balance well done.

You have certainly captured a sense of the old film with this well crafted shot, the fact that the faces are blending into the smoke doesn’t matter as it lends a sense of mystery. I liked the composition and the muted colours a very nice photograph.

This image was very striking and of my all time favourite aircraft and I liked the composition with the crew having a pre flight brief.. it was a very hard contest to mark and the images was number 12 on my list and I have a feeling that we may have been at 5he same event. Very good work, just a little critique I would have liked a little separation on the two right hand figures so you could see all five crew members

The shot in black and white has captured the atmosphere of the engine shed with Isambard Kingdom Brunel looking on at his great achievement, the smoke is enough to give atmosphere and you have managed to capture all the detail in the roof and shadows, a very pleasing image.

There have been a number of images of Just Jane entered but this is the best of the images, the smoke and cloud have captured the essence of the aircraft whilst the crew with their ethereal appearance from the smoke pays tribute to those who did not return. A very moving re-enactment and tribute.

The way you have captured this image is very true to life and I must commend both you and the subject for capturing the “1000 yard stare” that is common to those who have fought as they think back. The use of monochrome makes this a really powerful image and reminiscent of some of the War Photographers like Don McCullin.
