Real Life in Monochrome

When I saw this image I immediately asked myself the questions: What’s their story? Where are they headed? Where are they coming from? How far have they travelled? How far have they yet to go?

They 3 of them have made themselves comfortable in what is most definitely a very uncomfortable bus. Their crisp clean clothes against the cracked upholstery. The window open to let in some air. The notebook and pen in the breast pocket. The jewellery, the scarf, the watch. All 3 of them happily asleep without a care for what else is happening in that moment around them.

It’s a moment that’s wonderfully captured.

I love the simplicity of this picture. The strong sunlight is creating the natural contrast. It’s either black or white, with very little grey in between . It is simply brilliant in my book. A very well done, great capture.

What a brilliant composition! The edge of the cardboard, the fabric that contains the child, their feet, all leading lines towards that face. The emotion in this image is something g else. Well done!

It also shows that you don't need bulky expensive equipment to make great photography. All in a smartphone.

Who is the figure in the mist? Great photos ask big-BIG questions. To me, if you need to spend time searching a photo for an answer, the photographer has done their job. A well deserved top 10. Somewhat creepy, but that’s not a bad thing!

This image holds something I can't put my finger on. Is the boy on the right sad about something, is he tired? He looks like he's given up on whatever it is the other 2 subjects are looking at, their footwear not suited to the conditions. It asks big big questions. I love it.
