Remembrance

A fitting tribute and a remarkable image to document it. I was drawn into the remote feeling of the shot along with the grass popping out of the snow. That coupled with the brights in the red sky really does start to make it look like people are standing there.

There were a lot of images similar to this that were submitted but your one stood out as I feel the composition/crop works really well. It gives a sense of this is only a small proportion of the graves as there is no let up in how many are missing off the frame. That along with the lines running really well through the shot is something that just sits well with me. The choice for B/W I believe has also made the shot a lot less distracting and makes the grave markers stand out a lot more.

An image that as soon as I saw it, I had a good idea what it was, and the only thing I could think of was WOW. Really well lit, but most importantly a great way to remember a loved one. It would be great to see more images like this as the little details are really overlooked, but I am so glad you did this one so well. That old saying, a picture should say a thousand words, this is one of those examples that really does that.

When I first saw this image I knew straight away that it was the winner, the high-key edit with the bit of punch in the clouds keeps it very minimal and the distractions at bay, so you can appreciate the structure in the way it was intended to be done. Really well captured.

Another really interesting capture, what has drawn my eye to this is the use of colour along with the person running in the memorial, but with the clouds moving it feels like it is moving, it just adds another depth to a very well-designed memorial. Really well done for capturing a great image

A really well-lit image with an absolutely amazing composition and the exposure is on par, I just love that. The shot is tack sharp and has a nice use of 3rds and leading lines. There are just some images that when I judge I can just sit there and stare at, this is definitely one of those. Thank you very much for submitting this

A really really well-delivered image, shot at the right time of day to maximize the colours and perfectly framed, with the camera bang in the middle of the shot. Really well done with this image, there is nothing not to like about what you have achieved with the shot.

There were quite a few entries involving this sculpture but your image stood out by a long shot. I like the use of the floodlights and the way they are starting to highlight parts of the shape, but what just finishes off the shot is the mist/fog that has just added an extra feeling to the work in general. Really well done.

Another fitting image to go with the theme we have, I loved this image the second I saw it, as a landscape photographer, this is the type of image I love to shoot, but never got to see these, but you have delivered an absolutely top class image here and should be very proud of this shot.

Another really good image that is worthy of the top 10. The pooling of the light as it falls onto the subject is what I love the most, but with the great number of details you have also captured, that is what has made this work so well.

Black and white has worked well for this shot as it helps to keep the eye on the gravestones and the details and shapes within them. But to just add to the spectacular shot is the streaks in the sky adding a little bit more detail to a stunning shot.

Very atmospheric and presented very well. I like how you have captured the light on the concrete and also got that stunning detail in the clouds, that just gives a whole other dimension of depth to your work. The treatment you have given the final edit I believe is also what is adding to the charm of this shot too, really well presented.

I find the balance of this image really nice, almost symmetrical and that is something rather spectacular. The use of colour I like and the details in the sky you have preserved with a good exposure make the shot feel punchy and helps to showcase the site very well.

This is a great perspective that I did not see much of while judging the competition and I really liked it. Although it has been shot really wide and with a fish eye, you have managed to keep what needed to be straight, thus making for a very tidy bit of work, then the use of black and white for that extra moody look just fishes this off a gem. Really nice work indeed.

I really like this image and you can't help but feel cold looking at it due to the layer of snow. The use of the snow on the memorial does make you think about how cold those that fought in the war would have been while out in the woods, so thank you very much for making the effort to go out there and capture this image.
