This image looks like a film still; it's very Gregory Crewdson-esque. I love the mystery of it and find myself wondering what the narrative could be. Why is someone sitting on the embankment? What's in the trunk of the car? What happens next and where does this road lead? Great use of motion and light, as well; these add to the mysteriousness.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked 1000+ in this week’s Leaderboard.** Criss-crossing our lands, wherever humanity has gone they’ve built roads to help them get there and back, and to transport the goods that they need to get established and thrive. The architecture and design of the roads, their accompanying signs and markings, and the kinds of vehicles on them can be a dead giveaway for the country or part of the world you’re in. They carry the life of a place around on them, and scenes of daily life play out on their edges.
