Old and decaying doesn't always equal 'ugly'. Ruins are the perfect example of this. There's a magic in ruins, a certain nostalgia; a communication between the present and the past. The half-understood arrangements of arches and cornices evoke times past and a certain gothic drama. A photographer can choose to focus on the formal architectural features, or explore the aesthetic through romantic compositions or dramatic post-processing. Which ruinous path will you take?
