The way you have caught the light on these stunning rock formations gives them an almost translucent quality. You have done especially well to get such a good range of tones in the black and white conversion, as the rocks most likely have relatively little colour variation. This gives great depth and texture to the image, giving a real sense of the magnificent rocky landscape. Congratulations on your second place finish.
I love this wide view of these snowy peaks. For me, the little details included in the composition really make the shot, such as the line of the wall snaking across the lower part of the scene, and the little groupings of stark bare trees, providing focal points on which the eye can settle. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
A stunning landscape, in my view especially brought to life by the strength of the black and white conversion, picking out details in the wonderful mountains and dramatic sky. Importantly nothing has been overdone, so whilst no doubt edited to enhance the scene, it has not been overprocessed which would have removed any sense of the beautiful nature. The inclusion of the lovely reflections in the sand add foreground interest too. Well done on your top ten placing.
What a wonderful shot, delivering a beautiful scene that seems to bring with it a real gulp of fresh air. It is often difficult when including a figure in the frame to get a balance to avoid the person being either lost within the landscape or dominating the shot as a portrait-style image. Here though the balance is just right, with the figure being perfectly placed to draw the viewer in and makes us imagine that we too are there. The black and white conversion has been well done, with nice bright whites and plenty of details in the darker areas. Congratulations on your winning image.

This contest is for your black and white photos of scenic landscapes. Buildings can feature in the photos but the landscapes should be predominantly natural and non-urban settings. Images can show any type of scenic landscape whether in countryside, coastal, desert or mountain locations. Please only enter photos in black and white. I am looking forward to seeing your images. Please note: Monochrome colour toning, such as sepia, is allowed in black and white contests, although entrants are encouraged to keep any colour toning subtle.
I love the viewpoint here, quite different to many other shots taken at this location, usually captured from a little further around to get the waterfall more face-on. This composition works really well with the pool in the foreground, sweeping round past the frozen waterfall to the iconic snowy peak beyond. Lovely tones and contrasts, well balanced to avoid the snow and ice becoming overexposed. Congratulations on your third place finish.
