Dreamy awesomeness. Beautiful work that I feel would've been more effective in full color. The white dress is in such contrast to everything else going on that you'd get the same effect, had it been full color. I hope the photographer just stripped the color out of the sky for this contest and normally leaves it in. I struggle with all color photography myself. I always want to do either black and white or selective color, or else it doesn't feel complete to me. But some artists, like this one here, are better just doing what they normally do best. Beautifully saturated ground, that I'd love to see extended to the sky.
I really like this image, and for someone who's not normally a fan of street photography that's saying a lot. This is pretty much exactly how I would edit this image as well, except I would have maybe de-saturated the red and blue a bit. Almost so that it was barely colored, but still noticeable. The blurred figures accomplish a lot, in the same way, what the splash of color does by drawing your eyes in to a certain area and setting a mood. And the vignette is a nice touch, I've done this with several of my own photos. Great scene.
I was hoping to see more like this, where the color was more faint and not so much saturated. Just cause it's a selective color category doesn't mean it needs to be blindingly bright, in black and white your eyes will always find the color. Only in this case I'd prefer if the flowers were not color, which would give the door more of the center stage.
In a sea of entries where the artists left only eyes in color, this one stood out to me the most. Great detail and contrast in the rest of the subject surrounding the eyes. Usually when someone tries doing this type of editing, they just strip the color out of everywhere except the spot, or spots, they want and then don't do anything else. Not the case here and fine work from this photographer.

Selective colour photography is a process of photo manipulation whereby an image is converted to black and white whilst leaving an "accent" or area of partial colour. This is usually achieved by using layers and masks in Photoshop or other photo editing software. Selective colour can emphasise the subject of the image, and give it a powerful sense of meaning. If used wisely, it can take a simple photo to whole new artistic depths.

Nice capture of this pensive clown. I do love these types of images where the subject seems to be unaware that he's being watched, but also expects it given his outfit. But in my opinion this of one of those photos where it would work better in black and white, though. I think you'd get a more dramatic look. Or if you still wanted to do selective color, maybe just the nose. Still fine work, regardless.
I love this. Absolutely beautiful image. The movement of the sheer white dress, and beautiful woman against the background are great. But the color is not needed. Knowing when, and when not, to use selective color is very important when trying your hand at this type of editing. Black and white would go well with this, and it would still stand out because of the brightness of the dress. Nice work still.
