A rustic still life composed to produce a beautiful selective focus effect. The analogous colours of the mugs, coffee, table and backdrop work really well with a nice break using the sugar and spoons. The colour of the mugs seems to spill into a haze onto the table and background and I particularly like this artistic effect. A memorable still life, congratulations on being in my top ten selection
A very sharp and colourful capture The close up detail and colours are outstanding. I think that having one leg in sharp focus adds to the appeal of the image. I also like that you have managed to include the soft iridescent wings in the composition adding a greater depth. Outstanding capture well done and congratulations on being in my top ten selection.
A beautiful taken and composed capture. All the details of the head are sharp with a nice graduation of soft focus to the lower body. The iridescent blue and dash of orange are a beautiful combination with small highlights of this combination also on the leaf. The backdrop is soft and restful giving added emphasis to the subject. A memorable image and congratulations on being in my top ten selection.
A beautiful cat in a beautiful setting. You have nailed the eye focus and captured a wonderful expression on the cat's face, The nose and whiskers are also sharp and nicely framed with the flowers. An image that would have great appeal to cat lovers but also admired by everyone else. Congratulations on being in my top ten selection.
An outstanding image with the owl in tack sharp detail and his habitat in a soft dreamy bokeh. The setting sun has created a warmth to the image matching the yellow of the owls eye. The very long focal length has assisted with with the soft bokeh and even with a very high ISO you have no noticeable noise. Beautiful image that creates an emotional attachment, congratulations on being my number one selection.

Show me your best photos that have been created in-camera using a narrow depth of field. Using a wide aperture on a camera lens creates a narrow depth of field. This technique is often used to keep the main focal point sharp while the rest of the image is soft and unfocused, which can make for a pleasing image. Your image may be any subject, in either colour or black and white.
