It's one thing finding an interior chock full of interest such as this but another entirely in choosing a suitable viewpoint and composition and then having the skill to edit the captured image in a way that is sympathetic to the room and yet captures the viewers eye. This image checks every box and to be honest, if there had been a shopkeeper behind yonder counter then this would have taken first place. Well done !!
There's a lot to like here and you've captured a moment in time perfectly. I've no idea what's going on out of shot to the left but it's obviously caught her attention and it's that sense of drama and spontaneity that first caught my eye and still holds my interest. The shelving forms a great backdrop and the lady is pretty much perfectly placed in the frame. All in all a most accomplished image and congratulations on second place.
A very fine picture of a dapper gent in his working environment and a living advertisement for the quality of his tailoring skills. The tailor is well placed in the frame and I love the contrast between the subdued colours of the background and the stronger brighter colours of his suit and tie. A lovely image and most deserving of a top ten placing.
Business in the radio shop is evidently quiet and the poor guy has just realised that all his customers are now streaming world radio direct to their smart speakers and iDevices. The customers loss is our gain however as the shop is full of interest, the HDR processing has been handled beautifully and the inclusion of the shopkeeper is the icing on this wonderful photographic cake. I really do wish that this image was mine so congratulations on your very well deserved first place.
You've placed her well in the frame and she does indeed look very proud of her new shop. It's a lovely colourful image and I especially like the continuation of the wool theme from the balls of wool in the background to her presumably self-knitted jumper. My only criticism is the overexposed shelf of wool to the ladies left which does tend to pull the eye. Minor criticism apart though very well done on your top ten placing.
A perfectly executed in shop still life. It’s colourful, the background has just the right amount of blur and the foreground items are full of interest, pin sharp and very well arranged. So different to most of the entries, this image caught my eye early on in the judging process and never left my top ten. Congratulations and vive la difference.
An interesting viewpoint and very suiting of the black and white treatment. What secures this a top ten placing though is the inclusion of the two ladies and the interaction between them. They elevate this from just a picture of a room to a picture telling a story and as such holds the viewers attention and has them imagining what gossip is being told. Well done on your placing.
A good looking image and like my seventh placed entry an interesting room brought alive by the inclusion of the two ladies. The conversion to black and white and post-processing work has been handled extremely well as this has a crisp snappy feel and really pops off the screen. The riot of hats is wonderful and I’d love to see a colour version of this image. Well done on your top ten placing.
