Great street scene from Kathmandu - it brought memories back to me from when I visited Nepal some years ago. I love the panoramic crop that suits the scene so well - and I believe presenting the image in black and white was a great choice for a scene like this.

Great black and white work here - and a great example of why more pictures should be taken when it rains og right after it rained. The lights reflecting in the street works so well and there is just something magical about the light when the streets are wet from the rain. The couple is well placed in the frame and I get the feeling that they are in a hurry - maybe to get out of the rain. I also like the very contrasty black and white conversion.

One of the images that caught my eye from the very beginning - and I ended up placing it as number one. I really like how the girl on the poster looks at the viewer - and how the two persons passing by seems to be involved in some kind of conversion. As a viewer I wonder what they are talking about. The three figures in the picture somehow fits together in a great way - this is what street photography is all about.

Meet the expert judge

This might be staged, and it might not - and I really don't care. What I care about is how the colors in the picture works so well - not that there is a lot of colors, but the red in the poster and the red in the jacket fit's so well together - and as a contrast to that we have the yellow lines. Well spotted - staged or not.

High streets and other 'shopping streets' are often the focal point of any town, city or village's commerce and, also, community. As a result, this is a great place for photographers who are drawn to spontaneous moments of human interest – one of the most compelling photographic subjects. Alternatively, the products being sold also offer up many great opportunities for interesting shots, so don't be afraid to get creative.

Excellent street scene here. I love the muted colors you have chosen for this and your picture really gives a feeling of the noises and smells of Asian street markets. I have never been to Vietnam, but a picture like yours really gives me the urge to go there. Well done

I really like the way you have used the reflection in the window to mirror the street scene here - that works very well. The black and whit conversion is very well done with a nice tone and contrast and it suits the picture perfectly. What I dow miss - and what would probably have earned the picture a "Commend" is to see some of the people from the front and not just from the back. I really miss seeing some faces here and not just all those backs turned against med.
