Before I even begin to deconstruct this shot in light and composition, I'm already lost in tales of friendship and of the beauty that simple moments shared together can hold. I love an image that has the power to tell a story. I find the subjects of this shot very interesting-looking: from their outfits, to their position in the frame, to their body positions overall. By the way they are smiling, and sitting somewhat facing each other, the viewer can suppose they are acquainted, and so the eyes wander in search for clues -what is he drinking? What is the other man looking at? Where even are they? And what is their relationship? It's a story that unfolds, a little puzzle to solve that keeps the viewer's eyes glued to the picture. A beautiful portrait, well done!
A striking closeup portrait of an extremely interesting-looking subject. Caught at the perfect angle, almost mid word, and with a soft, ethereal-looking light on his face. I love all the detail in his hat, hair and skin texture, and I like the pop of red from his top and scarf that adds lovely contrast to otherwise neutral shades of the shot. The presence of detail in the background would have been an interesting extra - a useful element for the viewer to the able to mentally place the subject in a context, know more about him, tell more of a story. A wonderful portrait nonetheless, that captivated me from the first moment I saw it. Well done!
