A beautifully soft and light image showing an appreciation by the photographer of their subject matter with choice of aperture and a well crafted framing to allow the flowers to look into the negative space in the frame. The lightness and openness of the exposure and treatment show a lovely styling by the photographer.

Spring lambs leaping may be cliché for some people but I never grow tired of witnessing this playful and fun activity. This image has conveyed the happiness of the lambs brilliantly with a tight but appropriately balanced composition and perfect depth of field

Swallows are traditionally a sign of spring in the UK with their arrival from the African continent in April every year as they return to the same nesting sites. This wonderful image depicts a wonderful moment perfectly which is captured and executed brilliantly.

A lovely sunlit and considered composition that shows us with great details the skill of a wildlife photographer who knows their stuff. The position of the flower in relation to the bird works wonderfully as does the use of a shallow depth of field to ensure that we can enjoy the image without distractions.

A very skillfully crafted still life depicting the essence of spring/ The photographer has shown great empathy to the subject with soft and directional control lighting revealing enough details in the flowers and supporting props without destroying the ambience and mood of the image. An excellent image that is a pleasure to view and a worthy winner of a competitive competition for the theme of spring.

I love well-crafted and presented still life. This image of the crocus flowers in the glass has been really well put together and I love the use of the textured overlay used in post-production to turn the whole image into a painting like representation.

Stunning image of this Bluetit and blossom together. The photographer clearly has a good understanding of technical execution to achieve the sharpness combined with a shallow depth of field to ensure that the subject matter remains front and centre for us to enjoy.

The Bluetit perched on this length of Pussy Willow is expertly executed with the right amount of depth of field, perfect focus and sharpness throughout both subjects. The colour combination works really well too with the yellow of the chest of the bird being repeated in the Willow buds. Well done a lovely composition and perfectly taken.

A gorgeous spring bluebell wood showing us early morning light cascading down the woodland banks and lights the tops of the bluebells. The composition is well considered with the exclusion of the sky and the use of the anchor point of the foreground tree trunk to invite us into the image and down the woodland path. A lovely atmosphere and image.

A simple but very effective image showing us the Pussy Willow just coming into flower. I really like the use of repeating verticals in this image together with the relatively shallow depth of field to give us a sense of depth too. A limited colour palette really makes this a strong composition that shows a good eye and considered approach by the photographer.

When I first viewed this I was unsure because I felt it lacked enough detail and texture but I still kept coming back to it and to view again and again. The soft treatment used by the photographer and enhanced lighting around the crocus flower heads does pull the eye in and transfer us to a dreamlike interpretation which I enjoy. Well done for making me consider it several times over.

A very simple and beautiful image showing us the rim light and early morning dew on this spring flower. A lovely composition that fills the frame with enough of the flower without feeling cramped and allowing us to enjoy the fine details of the hairy stem and petals.

A lovely atmospheric image of one of the UK's annual woodland highlights. The path cutting through the slipping banks filled with bluebells gives us the feeling of what it would have been like to be there. Excellent treatment in post-production keeping details constrained and colours natural to allow the whole image to remain natural and authentic. Well done on a wonderfully calming shot that shows great understanding of the subject and use of light.

Stunning capture and insight into the Blackbird feeding its juveniles. The colours of details deep into the nest are wonderful to witness. Though, I do wonder how that chick can possibly swallow and digest the large caterpillar being provided by its father. Maybe a case of Father saying to son, come on man up and take your medicine!

Spring is a symbolic time of year, when renewal and fresh starts abound in nature, and the same is often awakened within us. It’s a time of hope, and for many, as the weather eases, it also marks a time when days outside with the camera become more practical and enjoyable. *This contest is open to Photocrowd subscribers (Challenger/Pro/Master), or by purchasing entries.*
