This fantastic shot for me really conveys the sense of claustrophobia that can sometimes be experienced in a big city, with the densly packed buildings closing in all around and overwhelming the senses. I love the viewpoint and the use of the architectural structures in the foreground to frame the buildings in the background. Conversion to black and white has been done really well, and it somehow works better that the far building is cropped of at the top, as it gives a strong impression of height, but further conveys the often oppressive feel of the city. Congratulations on your winning image.
A beautiful image, captured in the blue hour when there is still colour in the sky, including the last golden remnants of the day, combined with the little dots of yellow artificial light. The water has been blurred, most likely due to use of a slower shutter speed, which adds to the mood of calm. Well done on your top ten placing.
The contrast between nature and the architecture attracted me to this image. The scene looks to have been shot early in the season when the leaves are small and just breaking out on the branches, which means we can still see a lot of the artificial environment through the trees. The viewpoint, looking up to the sky, really accentuates the height of both the trees and the buildings. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

Although clearly a strong design feature, the twist in the building adds to the sense of height and the feeling that the building is so tall it has twisted under its own weight. I love the conversion to black and white, which removes any distractions, allowing the viewer to focus on shapes and patterns rather than a straight documentry shot of a building. It also adds to the abstract and strength of the image. Congratulations on your third place finish.

In this contest I would love to see your photos of buildings often referred to as skyscrapers; very tall high-rise buildings of many storeys, usually found in major cities. Try to focus on the skyscrapers rather than capturing a more general cityscape. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.
