This is an eye-catching and vibrant photo that certainly draws you in, though I'd like to see the motorcyclist rendered slightly sharper which can be achieved with a smoother panning technique and using a slightly faster shutter speed. Please read the entry conditions carefully in the future as the EXIF data says this is a Nikon image and this is a contest purely for Canon photographers.

Azim has used a slow shutter speed of 30 seconds to create a juxtaposition between the pin-sharp skyscrapers and the moving clouds that have been turned into streaks. His interesting choice of viewpoint, looking directly upwards, only makes this image even more head-turning. Great work!

Coming in pole position this month is the stunning Morning Raga by Sumanta. We loved the way the cool morning colours have mixed beautifully with the warm orange and yellow sunrise tones that are breaking through the clouds. His extended shutter speed clocks in at just over a minute and a half, which was enough to turn the clouds into a painterly blur and smooth out any ripples in the water to give it a mirror finish. Top job!

This is a hugely popular location for photographer’s in Iceland but I’ve not seen an image quite like Howard’s before. His shutter speed of six seconds is just right I think, turning the rushing water into milky streaks and creating a ghostly mist effect on the ground that compliments the black and white conversion brilliantly. Keep up the good work!

Brief

See more contest details

In this Canon-only contest, we want to see you getting creative by slowing down the shutter speed to convey a sense of passing time. This could be a long exposure of a landscape taken on a tripod or an energetic panning shot. If you don't have a suitable image to upload try experimenting with the Tv mode on your Canon camera to set a slower shutter speed than you'd usually use and see how you get on! **Read the 'Brief in detail' tab for image requirements.**
