Solitude

This is such a powerful image about a lot of mountains and a single human beeing. The texture is fantastic and the black and white really works here resulting us to focus on shape, form, texture and expression. The finish is excellent, and the contrast of the harsh blacks and strong whites in the scene works well. This nature photo is a fine piece of art in its way. The human is the emotion. This picture shows us how tiny mankind is and how lonely it is on this planet. Amazing.

Firstly, wow! The colours in this photograph are vivid and rich, however they don't distract our focus from the withered branch, which clearly meets the objective of the theme. The editing is excellent and whilst the detail is sharp and focused, the colours merge together very smoothly, almost like a painting. The subject is well-centred in the image, it is the focus point for the viewer and the diagonal editing gives dynamic to the theme. The most amazing is that the whole composition gives us the feeling of solitude.

This atmospheric monochrome forest picture takes first place at this contest, and for a good reason. The brief for this contest was broad and out of all the entries this image stood out, as it is not only original but it is also full of deep thought. The blurred forest could symbolize the stolidity of the world while the lone human silhouette is the solitude. The light in the middle shows us the hope. A very impressive and artistic photo.

There is something strange and mystical about this image that urges the viewer to explore it further. But there is nothing else to find, just the lone lady with the laptop.
