Stage Rallies

I love the wide crop of this shot. You've got the car centre stage, with the splash extending to either side of the shot. Perfectly captures the scope of the splash and therefore the speed of the car. The shutter speed is good so as to capture each individual water droplet. My only criticism, albeit minor, is the armco barrier at the bottom. This can't be helped with most positions at circuit based rally stages but it would be better if that were missing from the shot.

A beautiful shot showing the driver in the car. The framing is perfect, with the window netting and the door frame offering a sense of depth. The highlighting on the driver's face further brings out the subject, with the eyes popping out of the image more than they otherwise would have. A very atmospheric image overall

The car may not be on the stage but this photo shows the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep these cars running throughout the rally event. Very nicely framed and a good angle to take the shot from. For stationary shots such as this, I would recommend using a higher shutter speed than 1/30 to ensure that the image is crisp.

Capturing a moment of action like a car going over a jump is always a sound base to built a great shot on. The 1/1000 shutter speed has got a crisp image of the vehicle with minimal blurring. The image could be improved by taking the picture at a lower angle, although I appreciate the limitations of shooting motorsport. The lower angle would help eliminate some of the background detail, leaving the shot a lot more focused on the car itself.

A unique shot from the inside of the rally car is a fantastic creative choice. Capturing the concentration on the driver's face as she handles the car makes for a very impactful image. The low shutter speed has allowed the movement of the driver's hands to be captured, however the downside of that choice is that the driver is ever so slightly soft compared to the dashboard. A great shot nonetheless
