Combining serious and whimsy into a single photograph is no mean feat but has been achieved beautifully here. I love the way the backlight both shines through the shreddy and picks up all the texture of fabric. And this combined with the super shallow depth of field (provided buy our subject being really close) gives the whole shot a wonderful dreamy feel.
I think there's a little whimsy in this shot that I really loved. It's a hard line to tread between serious and silly but I definitely think you've achieved it here. The composition feels very considered too and so very satisfying to the eye, with the perfect alignment of the paint line and the way the subject breaks this just enough. A simple concept but perfectly executed.
It takes a good eye to make an everyday object into an intreaguing image. There's something very tangible about this shot. It really pops and feels 3D like I could reach out and feel the texture of the paint. The close compostion feels just right and well considered with the framing and perfectly aligned.
What wonderful glorious colour and texture! I think what really grabbed me about this shot is the homogeneity. Reminiscent of a magic eye picture your eye roves around trying to find structure and patterns. The colours on their own really say autumn and this is solidfied when you realise they're leaves. The fact it's a pond has this double effect of giving us these little flecks of green that compliment the brown/yellow of the leaves beautifully and also makes everything so flat we're only left with the texure and form of leaves making a truly abstract image.
I felt this shot perfectly fitted out theme. Even looking at the notes by brain still struggles to pinpoint what I'm looking at, which is definitely a compliment! I just love the crisp geometry of the triangle and it's perfect placement in frame which is then contrasted with this beautiful kind of fluid texture in the macro detail. The flow of tone around the composition really leads the eye around and I love that focus of the darker patch at the top point. A fantastic shot well done.

Absolutely loved this image. you can just get lost in the intricate detail and sweeping forms. Gives a real double take feeling about what it's actually of which fits with our theme perfectly. It realyl reminds me of long eposures of insects flying around a lamp at night. The monochrome (whether it's black and white or it's the subject - another intreaguing question), really adds to the abstraction too; making it feel like an x-ray or photogram. A fantastic shot, congratulations.
I do love the abstraction here of taking one everyday object and making it look like another well known thing. The lighting is beautful and I would say was the key here making the shot, perfectly highlighting and creating intreague for the viewer. A pefect use of black and white too, leaving the viewer to fill in the blanks, taking the mind in a certain direction.

Shooting an abstract still life often means getting that little bit closer, so that the viewer can't quite tell what they're looking at. It rewards a curiosity about the subject, a willingness to explore it and move around it, seeking interesting viewpoints and a satisfying composition.
An incredibly technical image perfectly executed here. There's a real consideration for the small details too. Like having the cup perfectly full, the crop giving just the right amount of negative space and the beautful graduation across the background. All this comes together to create a stunning and very satisfying image. Well done.

This shot fitted out theme perfectly, I still don't really know what it is. The light is beautiful and I love the variation; with a hard source giving strong shadows in the top and left highlighting all the texture of the plastic. And then the lower half falling into shadow with only reflected light which is incredibly soft showing off the same texture but in a different way.

A fanstastic example of how light can create a whole image. Perspex is particularly interesting to play with in this instance, you can create so many shapes and highlights by just manipulating it in relation to your light source. I like the addition of the needle too, it adds a focus for the viewer.
I wonderful example of how negative space can be used to make an image. The gentle graduation across the shot is very satisfying. And the directional light gives us the beautiful shaows that add a real depth to the picture. And I love the super graphic subject that ofsets the gentle serenity of the rest of the composition.
