Still Life of Keys for Unlocking Things

When I decided to set this contest I knew it would be a difficult contest to judge, and pick my top ten, because to take photos of keys and make them look interesting is a difficult task but this close up of a rusty key in a lock nailed it for me, the focusing is spot on showing all the detail of the rusty key. The chosen aperture of F/11 nicely throws the background out of focus which gives you all the attention to the key.

The angle which you took it complements the shot as well.

I also like the way the lock and key colour is the same colour as the background.

What a great and thought out still life with the key being the front of attention. I like the way you used dead roses with the petals scattered in front. The ball of string is a nice touch too resting on what I think is a book wrapped in brown paper.

I wonder what the title of the book is?.

What a colourful image of some keys which looks like you placed them onto a raised piece of clear glass or plastic on which you sprayed some water on with a coloured background underneath. I would have liked the keys to be a bit sharper I think your focus was slightly off

It made my top ten because of your idea to try something different with some keys.

I would of loved to have know were this was taken and what the keys were used for, it is very dark and moody and full of atmosphere, with the rusty keys being the centre of attention. You could imagine it was taken at an old prison with the unlit candle on the left of the image. You have used the light to the best of your advantage for this scene very well done.

The words PRIEZ POUR LUI in French means PRAY FOR HIM.

Another image I would have liked to known were it was taken and what the key was used for, but maybe like the second place image that I picked not knowing adds to the image.

Who do they won't us to pray for ? maybe we will never know, but then I think that adds to the image not knowing.
