You've captured the intensity of this event superbly. The mud and water dripping from the competitor's face as he gasps for air with the flames beyond set the scene brilliantly. Your composition is excellent, it looks like you found yourself a very good shooting location and got ready to capture the perfect moment. - Angela

I love this image. One has to look at it several times to understand what's going on from the apocalyptic background. I like how the athlete is large within the frame, giving us a clear vision of how far he is pushing himself. - Jeff

We love the dynamic angle of this image and your timing is perfect with the front wheel of the bike just in the frame and looming large. You've also balanced the exposure well as the bright sky could easily fool the camera into underexposing the foreground.

This is a well-timed and well-framed image which shows the determination on the athletes' faces. We also like the use of black and white, which makes the viewer focus on the athletes. This is a split-second moment in time that was captured perfectly.

This is a little bit of a different take on the month's theme, but it's hard not to be wowed by the large sun looming on the horizon in this shot. This could be a still from a sci fi movie!

I love the colour palette in this image and the whole minimalist feel of it. The brooding clouds, the long shadows and strong lines. This was very well seen and well-composed. It may not have dramatic action, but there is plenty of drama. - Jeff

Superb timing and framing, this image captures some high-class surfing at a critical moment. The exposure is always tricky in these situations, but you've handled it well so that there's detail in the black shorts and rash vest while the wave isn't burned out.

This is such an interesting perspective to see and must have been a difficult image for the photographer to capture. The exposure under the water's surface is spot on, and yet the sky is also rich and blue and not overblown.

We saw quite a few waterskiing and wakeboarding images but this one really stands out. Your timing is perfect with a great moment of action. The eye contact also gives a sense of fun as well as helping to form a connection with the athlete.

I love this image. It could pass for a portrait, but it also fits the brief of summer sport. The little girl's expression is great, she looks confident and quietly pleased with herself. The dynamic angle injects a sense of movement. - Angela

Not all sport is face-paced action! We love your interpretation of the brief. We can be in no doubt that it's summer in this shot. Including the figure nonchalantly leaning on his mallet in the foreground makes the image by giving it some depth and scale.

What a great idea to shoot these two cyclists in silhouette! You've made the most of the sunset while capturing an action shot that stands out from the crowd. It's never easy to time shots like this, there are only fleeting moments when everything aligns.

Fantastic! Most photographers would opt for a fast shutter speed to freeze the movement, but by shooting at 1/8 second you have created something that's very different and that stands out. The colours also work very well together with the blue leaping out from the warm tones of the background.

This is such a colourful image, it leaps from the screen. You've done a great job with the exposure, which would have been very tricky in the bright conditions with the reflective water. It's great to see such a well-filled frame with a subject like this.

The colour and vibrancy of this image caught my eye initially, but I love your shooting angle which accentuates the impressive leaping power of these two players. Your framing also gives the shot impact and there's a sense of tension as the ball is in the air with both players reaching for it. - Angela

This image proves that not all great sports photography needs to be sharp with all the movement frozen. Your panning has worked very well, conveying a sense of movement while blurring the distracting background. The warm colours also scream summer sunshine.

We love your angle of view and the framing of this image, it's just a shame that the sailor's face is a little soft and obscured. Nevertheless, the image caught our attention and it fits the brief extremely well. Nice one!
