Technique - Long Exposure

Great depth of filed, sharpness and detail in this shot with great use of a long exposure to transform the water to a milk bath.

I really like the composition and I am guessing that took a minute or two to work out. But it was worth it for the nice framing and leading lines in the shot.

I love the creativity of this shot and the long exposure just adds a lot more drama to the image.

I can imagine finding the right shutter speed took a bit of work and some trial and error.

Getting that wave in front of the stack right can be a bit tricky, you were obviously there at the right time

Really nice minimalistic black and white long exposure in near perfect weather for it.

Sometimes less is more and in this case I think you got it dead right with a nice lon long exposure.

Such a beautiful shot, this would be at home on any wall in any house. I love the long exposure here as it just helps to soften the water and and yet it still leads you towards thet beautiful tree so nicely framed by the arch. Great edit also, well done and congratulations on third place.

I love this photograph and I should tell you that for me you finished just outside the top 10 (in eleventh place).

As someone that dabbles in wildlife photograph I know how hard it is to get a panning shot like that at 400mm and 1/50th of a second.

The very long long exposure really helped to clam the wild waters surround this lighthouse.

I can imagine alright that getting your exposure roughly right in thast changing light with such a long exposure must have been challenging alright.

That's a truly incredible shot, the colour contrasts, lighting, view and composition. The long exposure helps to make it even more surreal It makes me wish I was there to see it for myself, amazing shot. Well done on the capture and on getting second place, it was a very close finish.

This has to go down as one of the best long exposure shots I have seen as regards timing.

Yes, some people may say long exposure photographs are generally longer exposures than this but the main aim of a long exposure is to use a slower shutter speed to highlight movement and this shot does that perfectly.

The gap in the carriages frames the prerson beautifully I don't know if it was sheer luck or perfectly timed but this went straight into the top 10 for me as soon I saw it.

Great composition, vision and more importantly photograph.

When you see there were over 4,500 photographs in this competition I spent a way too long looking at this one.

As someone that also does a good bit of drone work I know how difficult it can be to capture a shot like that but when you throw the birds into the mix then too it's a great example of what you can do with modern equipment.

The only limitation is your own imaginaition.
