I really liked this photo. However it was edited, you did a really great job. Somebody being thrown into a swimming pool with a shark, that is a great idea for a photo and perfect for a tension competition. You did a really nice job capturing the facial expression underwater and I'm sure you had technical challenges. Well done.
I really enjoyed this photo. It is extremely bizarre. Whoever that person is in the background, there is something very disturbing about them. And the faceless character in the foreground reaching in their coat could be reaching for a gun. This is a good photo because it really makes you wonder what is happening, it creates confusion, which is a necessary ingredient in high tension. Well done.
I enjoyed this photo. It seems like it was taken in Ireland back in the day and the old man appears dangerous, perhaps even drunk, maybe about to vault over the counter and begin beating somebody. Anyway, that was my impression and I thought that your character is interesting and overall it is a good photograph. Well done.
This was the winner. I will say that the entries in this competition were extremely poor in general, so it was easy for quality photos to separate themselves from the pack. The symbol here is obvious and effective, there is something about arachnids on a human that make an observer's skin crawl. The black and white made it even more effective. Well done, this was the best.

I want to see your photographs that depict people in a moment of high tension. One or more people can feature in the photograph. You may want to draw heavily from cinematic influences in your submissions, as I want to see moments when a character appears under pressure. This could be a moment when they appear to be in fear of something taking place or about to take place. The photograph should not show violence, but rather it should suggest the threat of impending violence or some kind of tense event. The photos can depict any time period. I will judge the photos based on their thrill value, composition and also lighting which are all important elements in a tension photograph. Your submissions can be in either black and white or colour.
